Back to the issue, IMO PRIME Dempsey at 195 pounds beats PRIME RJJ, and has competitive fights with Spinks, Moore, Charles. Loses a few, wins a few. I think Holyfield wins.

 

Look the first fight Jones won but looked terrible because of the weight loss .. what he may or may not have taken in additional to the weight on and off drained Jones in the fastest fall from grace I've ever seen ... prime for prime while Tarver would have been a challenging match up style wise I doubt he was a better fighter ..

I don’t think a lot of modern LHWs can be counted here. AB is pretty much a HW in JD’s era, I like Archie and Ezzards chances, I think Conn could do it. I wish we’d have seen what Dempsey prime looked like, it’s hard to say much with him it’d be like judging Tyson based on the 90s.

The problem that "RJJ" would have with Dempsey would be this...Dempsey would enter the ring 100% convinced that he was going to win. He would not lay back to see what "RJJ" was going to do. He would take the fight to him and make him fight.
I have been saying since 1989 that "RJJ" didn't have the heart to get into a fight.

 

I will go on a limb here, Marvin (Pops) Johnson, he was a southpaw and super aggressive, he also had quite a punch.
