I don't disagree with your arguments at all - the monthly DAZN subscription is too expensive for what it offers. Of course that's kind of the point: it isn't meant to be good value, it's intended to hook people into the longer, better value subscription. Let's not forget that the Sky Sports Day Pass is £12.

For the generalist sport fan (me in my teens and 20s) Sky and BT offer far better value. For me today with a job and an increased interest in minority sports, Sky and BT offer poor value. While I used to watch a lot of golf and tennis, now I'm more likely to watch ice hockey and Euroleague basketball, neither of which are catered for on Sky or BT. I watch 2-3 football matches a week during the season and the F1, plus virtually all of the sensibly timed boxing.

For what I actually watch on there (i.e. all of the UK timezone boxing), the £99 I paid DAZN for a year actually stacks up reasonably to what I pay for Sky and BT. I suspect the cost per viewed hour is actually pretty similar.

Also @ALN93, golf fans would stone you to death for calling the upcoming tournament anything other than "The Open". :)

That's all fairly reasonable to be honest.

Strangely enough one of the big arguments when DAZN launched was "shoulder content" and other things making the subscription worthwhile. Maybe I just don't like the presenters so don't go looking - but I've never watched more than a couple of additional things on DAZN outside of light fight cards. Even BoxNation had more to watch, but the people involved (Bunce, Cassius+Helder, Dev Sahni) are all doing their own thing elsewhere now.

Genuine question, am I missing out on anything from DAZN?

    Truthful answer: not really.

From a boxing perspective, virtually all of the "shoulder" content is available on either DAZN or Matchroom's YouTube channels. The archive on there is pretty extensive, but for the older fights it has re-dubbed - often retrospectively - commentary which I find quite jarring. I watch the Before the Bell on there because it's better video quality than YouTube.

The other stuff on there so far must have cost them in the low thousands in terms of rights fees - esports, Red Bull stuff that I think is free on their app, some chess stuff has been popping up recently. It's very Sky Sports Mix.

Women's Champions League is on there too which they've also been putting on YouTube - however from next season it'll be subscriber only.

I really wish they'd pay the presumably tiny rights fee Euroleague Basketball to stream every match on DAZN, like they already do in Spain where it's a big deal. For any existing fans it'd be a driver to DAZN. And for anyone who hasn't seen what the atmosphere is like for a big basketball game in Greece, Turkey or Serbia - once they've seen it once they'll definitely tune in again.

DramaShow is just leaping to Matchroom’s defence and is correct when he says that Matchroom’s output is no worse than Boxxer’s or Queensberry’s.
With BT and Sky, we get other sports to warrant the subscription, where as with DAZN, we’re not getting that, but that’s is DAZN’s fault rather than Matchroom’s.
Eddie Hearn’s gob has contributed to why people are blaming Matchroom for it though.

Yeah you're right. You can't blame Matchroom for the lack of other sporting content on the channel, that's DAZN's fault. There is definitely more boxing on the channel though. There are 4 events on July 15.

Obviously Sky and BT are more worth paying for if you're interested in those sports outside of boxing. I am subscribed to Sky and BT but not DAZN for that reason.

Eh?! So you constantly tell us how good the schedule is and defend Matchroom/DAZN to the hilt but don’t subscribe yourself? What the fook

Mr Hearn earlier this year provided the unsuspecting UK public with a quote:

'Trust us, we will offer unprecedented value and none of the fights are on Box Office including AJ'

In my opinion 4 months later, he has delivered the same garbage, non title fights are now on Box Office and all for an increased subscription cost.

For those reasons I am out as a subscriber for good as all he does is con people with his careful use of words and delivers very poor value.

Sounds like good old Trans World Sport on Channel 4!

For my sins I worked for a TV station for a while; we were offered a Celtic European qualifier in Portugal for 5 grand, 2 hours before the kickoff, because nobody else took it up. We thought about streaming, but this was just on the cusp of video ads making money, 2009, so it would have cost us to do it and we didn't bother.

Nowadays the likes of DAZN would bite the hands off for a deal like that, filling up an evening on the cheap. Viaplay basically trades on it.

It's not Safin but he has come up with some ridiculous posts hating on Joshua. He said that Joshua Whyte wouldn't do 200k buys on PPV. He also said Joshua would only fight once this year. He also keeps messaging me abusive, personal comments. Weird behaviour from a grown man.

I don’t hate Joshua. Just find him a strange bloke.

How come you don’t subscribe to DAZN if it’s so good as you keep reminding us every day?

As for me getting the Joshua fighting once thing wrong, let’s not start on every fight you’ve claimed to be happening and then it hasn’t as we’d be here all day.

And as for these abusive messages I’ve apparently sent - why don’t you report them to the mods? I’m sure I’ll get banned if they’re so abusive.
