Fair assessment. Money is a great presuader. At the end of the day, it's their job. Might as well take the job that pays best. Sucks for the fans tho.

Nice to see two disagreeing people (@Leeroy84 and @Braindamage) having a decent conversation regardless of who they like and dislike. Sadly it's not within the capabilities of a worrying number of people.

The answer to the "if" question is in the first two posts, there will be also "the war", "injuries" and the usual blah-blah. Plus, they will add "but he ducked him in 202X". Like with the Klitschko story: Fury humiliated that cheater and showed the world how vile he is, yet he gets criticism for not giving him a rematch (like Usyk gave any while being a cruiser - for sure Briedis deserved one). Back then, nobody remembers that Fury was stripped of a title 10 days after winning it and he really fell into his drugs and alcohol hole. Usyk's fanbase is happier if the fight never happens, they're not that sure it seems, so it's easier to go with assumptions of some great schooling.

“It’s true he’s been stripped of his IBF belt,” the IBF’s championships chairman, Lindsey Tucker, told the BBC. “Our challenger was Vyacheslav Glazkov but instead Fury’s gone and signed a rematch clause with Wladimir Klitschko.” IBF should have stripped Usyk for the same reason then, right? Not that I would support that, but let's be fair.

I kinda don't even expect the fight to happen at this point. Just seems like somebody involved doesn't want it for one reason or the other. But just for fun...

If Usyk loses, I'd expect to hear "he was aged out," "he was too small," "the war was distracting him," "his history of injuries caught up with him," stuff like that. But of course if Usyk wins, the excuses will come pouring in for Fury as well. The one I'm expecting is "The boozing and drugging finally caught up to him," or "He was in a bad place mentally," both will almost certainly be brought out if he ever does lose. I could also see a few sour grapes saying "He only got the nod because of the situation in Ukraine," and if Fury's a really sore loser I could see him latching onto that himself. And of course if it ends up being a close fight, expect to hear "ROBBERY!" from either side.

There will be excuses no matter who loses, that's just the way big fights between guys with large fanbases go. I'm more curious about the reactions that would be seen if it turned out to be a draw and never got revisited. Sure, both fanbases would be able to claim their guy won, but just imagine the immediate reactions for that :sisi1

He won't. Either because he is goong to keep running scared from Usyk like a headless chicken, or because if due to some miracle the ogre faces him, Usyk batters him pillar to post.

But to answer your question: nothing, apart from congratulating Fury, and acknowledging that he is the better fighter. Personally, I never believed in excuses such as "too old", "too light, "too whatever". If a top level fighter fights, he doesn't think that he is too old or too light or too whatever. If a top level fighter steps in the ring, my view is that they are doing it because they believe they can win.

But that goes for Fury as well. If for some miracle he stops running and faces Usyk who goes on to batter him, I don't want to hear any nonsense about injuries/men'al 'elf/sick relatives/weight problems/cocaine problems/age/decline. If a top level fighter is not fully prepared to fight, then they shouldn't fight. Simple. If top fighters fight especially when it's an undisputed match, then the assumption is that they do so to the absolute best of their abilities and with the full confidence that they could win.

Fury will never get credit for beating small CW, who is older than him.

Nobody will remember that Usyk is more skilled, faster and better boxer

As I told you yesterday, mate, not long now. Just hang in there. You’ll soon be free from all this. Usyk will free you up too when he batters Fury into irrelevance.
