There's no shame in losing, in such a manner, to such a legendary boxer in Barrera.

No there isn't mate. But he humiliated a few opponents himself and rubbed it in. Terrific fighter, exciting style, but made a lot of excuses about this before and after instead of acknowledging he lost to a better fighter and a great one at that.

Can we not talk about this. It was like watching a car crash in slow motion :-(

I still think he would have beaten him if they had fought 5 years earlier.

Yes I know I need to let it go :).

Was odd because he took it like a champion should take a loss straight afterwards and was very respectful to Barrera (as he should have been). Probably was in shock and then his ego kicked in again a while later.

Sky did a great build up to this fight “Little prince big fight” or something similar.

Naz was a great entertainer and injected British boxing with the adrenaline it needed, he was even went mainstream in the US, but unfortunately he became to “big time” to screw the nut a couple of years before this fight and got t found out.

If I remember correctly he only made weight on the day of the fight.

still an absolute legend of a fighter.

I think it was a channel 4 documentary, but I agree it was great and we got to see how crap his Palm Springs training camp was with the awful sparring. Busted hands and only making weight on the day didn’t help, but I thought Barrera won it far wider on the cards. Schooled him.

I used to be a huge naz fan but as the years go by you got to be objective. He didn’t actually beat anyone. His biggest win is Kevin Kelley and he scraped through that fight by a ball hair, did not impress on his USA debut.

Naz lived in an era where he was a couple of pounds bigger or smaller for years than mayweather, pac, Castillo, coralles, cassemayor, morales, Barrera, junior jones, Marquez etc and only fought one of them once, and lost.

Exactly. He just wasn't that good. Kelly was a bang average fighter and he went life and death with him

He beat Tom Johnson and Bungu. They were good wins.

You can’t tell me he wouldn’t have stopped Junior Jones and Kennedy McKinney at 126lbs.

I think the humiliation angle is overplayed for this fight, probably because Naz was an arrogant little sod. He was in the fight and kept trying to land a KO punch throughout. He was just overmatched and took his loss well post fight. I didn’t remember thinking he was humiliated, just exposed, which happens.

he’s a funny one in the way he’s never celebrated in the UK as one of the entertaining boxers in UK history. You never see him interviewed despite his pretty interesting and successful career. I guess that car accident ruined his reputation and made him kind of disgraced. Shame really.
