Loved Steve Holdsworths commentary work, he was influential on the old ScreenSport during Eubank Snrs early days...
Naz is a scumbag. Gave someone severe life changing injuries by trying to show off to his mate by speeding and did a runner from the scene like the coward he is.
I’ll tell him that, he’ll love it. He’s a top man. Hamed punched him properly in the chest once when they were doing an interview and he goaded him into sparring. Steve says he feels it whenever he coughs. I found that out after Hamed retired and that really disappointed me as I was a big fan.
When this fight was announced, i can honestly say that i thought Naz is in trouble with this one, and i was no fan of his either just a fan of boxing. I did not like the brash attitude he gave and his put down of other fighters, he had me watching him in the hope i get to to see him get beat, and watch his reaction, i expected him to act like a spoilt bratt, but in fairness he took his schooling exceptionally well. During his interview in the ring, you could see how upset he was at losing, and almost crying whilst sipping from a bottle of water, but he took it like a man, gone was all the flash and brash, he bore all the hallmarks of a man who was beaten by the better man and knew it. His reacting like that whilst sad to see gave me a little sense of pride in him and my respect for him as a fighter went tenfold.
He wasn’t in the US when Hamed beat Kelly, but he is very respected by most in the game and as another poster mentioned he did all the Eubank fights. He spent time with him in his dressing room after the Calzaghe and first Thompson loss which he says was one of the most courageous performances he’s ever seen. I agree he was a great commentator and very funny on Eurosport.
It was about money Jim. The Hameds are obsessed with money, mainly because they never had any. That’s why he left Warren, which was the biggest mistake he ever made, because if he had stayed with him he would have boxed MAB after the Vasquez fight which he looked very good in and he was at least still taking the game seriously then and not loading up with one big shot.
I never knew that, what a you know what though. But yeah, i absolutely loved his commentary, he was always straight up and called the fight as it was happening, no bias from him which is what i loved, i wish in todays scene more like him were made available instead of the tripe they roll out and ruin a fight with their hands held out...
that is terrible mate he still feels that ffs that is no way to treat a good fella its no joke doing something like that
It’s true Jim. He also told me Hamed would sign autographs for fans who were handing him fight programs and magazines and would throw them oh the floor for them to pick up instead of just handing them back to them directly.
that is terrible can you imagine a fella like usyk doing that he always struck me as a cocky wee bugger an after that crash escapade i thought you little rat he was entertaining but not sure if good person
The fact he’s been the only person to be stripped of an MBE says it all and I was a massive fan of him. Mental.
I watched a few Nas ring entrances recently on YouTube. I think there was a thread on Reddit that linked to them. They were ludicrous and there's so many of them. It was pure theatre and though many have tried to replicate that showmanship I don't think anyone has come close. You forget how big of a deal he was. He brought an attention and crowd to lower weight boxing that hadn't really been seen before. And he fought like he acted, a genuine maverick. Most fighters today talk a good game to get their PPV numbers up before boring you to tears come fight night. Nas fought like a movie character, it was ridiculous looking back. I regret not paying much attention to him in his pomp. I thought he was a massive bellend and wanted to see him lose but he was a genuine one-off looking back. Usyk did an interview with Bunce today saying him and Lomachenko were big fans of his. It's a shame how he fizzled out but judging by the negative testimonials in this thread it feels deserved.
definitley mate hes a horrid bloke ive heard sum stories about him nasty wee bully mate thing is he has all these cult fanboys that lick his arse and make excuses fer him scumbag like u said defo not the type of fella ud wanna be around overrated as a fighter too **** him ive no time for him or his deluded fanboys barrera exposed him as a fraud end of
Fair enough Sonny forums are about opinions and we differ. I bought every one of his fights mate and agree with a lot. Have stated the difference. But yes, terrific fighter and entertainer.
