Matthew Saad Muhammad and Bennie Briscoe. I love watching the old Philly fighters. Life on the line, blood and guts brawls every time. It sadly didn't make for very long retirements, but did it ever give the fans many exciting nights!

Ive been a boxing fan since a young child, but it was 2 books - 1 on Joe Louis and the other Hands of Stone - that first got me interested in boxing history, as a teenager.

Entire ATG careers, that I had previously next to no knowledge of, unfolded in front me in the time it took me to read a book. No long wait to find out how their next, much awaited contest went. Ive been hooked on learning about boxing history ever since.

So, Louis and Duran are my answers.

Even after 40+ years of enjoying and studying boxing history, i still happily read about Dempsey and Marciano, it is not as i rate them in my top 5 of heavyweights, i just find the history of their backgrounds and eras they lived in plus of course their pugilistic exploits absorbing.

This interest however does not mean i see them with rose tinted spectacles, what with Dempseys lack of title defences and not facing a certain legit challenger, and of course Marcianos disregard for the rule book with his out and out fouling.

But interesting fellas they sure are.

Snap! Dempsey and Marciano for me. I read about them at a young age and I have never gotten…(is that actually a word) bored of reading, watching and hearing about them.

Larry was really my heavyweight champ, growing up. I never bothered following the other alphabet champs, he was the real McCoy for me.

these fighters all stayed with me when doing my research, they are all UK Greats fit for any of their peers throughout Boxing History.

    Joe Bowker
    Jack Casey
    Jock McAvoy
    Jim Brady
    Ernie Roderick

I would love to see a Movie on Joe Bowker.

    Hey Vic.

'Gotten' is the American version of 'got' As an Englishman I say 'I have never got bored of reading them ... '.

I'm off, Everybody hates a smart ar5e (or smart ass, if you're American).

Haha! I’m an Englishman too so you’d think I’d have known that “got” is the word I should’ve used.

Next thing I’ll be calling football, “soccer!”
