    Muhammad Ali or Floyd Mayweather.

On this forum, perhaps Marcel Cerdan.

At one point it was definitely Manny Pacquiao. His fans would send actual death threats to people for daring to disagree when they claim he's the greatest. Even Tim Bradley's family suffered when he beat Pacquiao and were miserable from the backlash.

Lomachenko back in the day had a pretty hilarious legion of supporters claiming he'd "easily" beat guys like Pepp, Saddler, Mayweather, Armstrong, etc.

Today Canelo and Fury both have equally annoying fanbases but the Fury fans are easier to deflate and have decreased in number.

If we mean all time across all divisions, certainly Tyson, Ali, and Duran are up there. I don't think any boxer has come close to the level of obsession people had with 80's Tyson in particular, it's like a cult. To some people it would be easier to believe the sun is blue than believing he could lose.

    Canelo Alvarez, Floyd Mayweather.
    And i dont dislike either.

The internet has lead to fighters being iberhyped through snowball effects and social media bubbles/echochambers.

    GGG as well tbh

He has easily got a top 5 , more like top 3, resume in the last 40 years plus of the sport , imo.

    This is a different issue

fair enough though, I guess the term is subjective

I don’t know the answer but this has got to be the most overrated topic on this forum.

I think we had one of these a month ago and probably a few dozen over the years.

Got to be Floyd for the current casuals. And I rate the guy very high. But hearing people like Rogan speak of Money as the greatest of all time just makes me climb the wall.

Marciano has his own cult filled with guys who almost universally know nothing about any other boxer than the Rock and his opponents. Their estimation of the guy is just mental.

And again, I like both these fighters quite a bit and think them both to be great.
