Was he a bigger puncher? Better left hook?

Nothing really. Leonard's left hook was shorter, faster
and just as powerful. (Has Dave Green woke up yet?)
Everything Hoya could do, Leonard could do it a little
better. Even the cocaine binges lol.

Nose candy never had Leonard wearing the fishnets...
So Leonard was better at handling that too...

Watch Leonard vs Benitez..... The answer will be revealed to you.
I'll just say this, against a defensive wizard like Benitez , Leonard's
    jab was key.

    I don’t think there’s any comparison, really.

Oscar is a much better promoter than Leonard ever was.

Sugar Ray Leonard also beat Oscar de la Hoya handily that time they played that console boxing game against one another! =D

I might give Oscar the edge as a body puncher.

Oscar had a better amateur career than Leonard, Oscar earned Gold in 92 being the only American champion when the amateur scene had been dominated by Cubans and Europeans. Leonard won the gold in 1976 where USA still dominated both pros and amateurs. Leonard 145-5 75 KO's DLH 223-5 163 KO's

Oscar was better at defending his belt, Sugar Ray only defended his 147 belt 4 times and his "168" belt once. He vacated his 154, 160 and 175 titles immediately. Sugar Ray is 10-2-1 8 KO's in world title fights while Oscar is 25-5 17 KO's

Both were the cash cows and face of boxing but Oscar in his prime attracted more women to the sport. Leonard in his day was a handsome man himself, but these Latin girls went absolutely nuts when Oscar DLH fought, had stadiums filled with women admirers.

As far as boxing ability goes, Oscar was probably the better body puncher.

Watch Leonard vs Bonds, and the beginning of the end
for Hearns in their 1st fight. Leonard's body attack
was beautiful in it's brutality against Bonds, one of
the slickest welter south paws of the era ,and was
the turning point in his fight against Hearns in
the 6th rd if my memory is serving me correctly.
While It's possible Hoya was a better body puncher,
but it wouldn't be by much.
As I wrote earlier, whatever Hoya could do in the boxing
ring, Leonard could do it a little bit better.
