Jabs do work against southpaws. Usyk was jabbing Joshua's head off in both fights. Obviously that works both ways. That's just one example.

Zhang was leading off against Joyce when he hurt him in the first fight. They weren't counters. Joyce didn't throw a jab and was countered by Zhang. Joyce held his feet too long and Zhang was stepping in and pushing Joyce back. Only when Zhang started to slow down and Joyce upped his workrate did he start to come back in the first fight.

Joyce was throwing left hooks, leading off with the right hand, throwing straight right to the body. Right from the first round. That wasn't cautious Joyce from the Dubois fight.

Joyce is going to get hit. Dubois hit him and won the early rounds and so will probably Zhang. Joyce didn't throw any rights in the Dubois fight, just the jab. That's what I'm saying will get him through the first half of the fight without taking too much damage. Only when Zhang slows down will Joyce have any real success.

I think the only chance Joyce has is if he is twice the Juggernaut than he usually is, double and triple down on the amount of pressure and punches thrown. Keep his hands up especially the right hand to protect that right side. I don't think he's the kind of fighter that can adapt well, he reminds me of George Foreman.

If he goes in trying to be too clever and become a different fighter he'll get blitzed.

Joyce obviously has to get mid rounds without suffering the kind of damage he did first time out and hope Zhang fades in the second half. That's going to be no easy task unless he can move, tie up Zhang inside and find success with the jab. Must be tighter and more sparing with the right hand also. If Zhang starts to land again early I don't see a different outcome.

Agreed, he hits very hard, being a left hooker as well just steps it up another level.

Not the kind of loss that you can look at and say "yeah will do better in the rematch"

I think Zhang will knock Joyce out cold this time.

So he won't work on his biggest weakness and instead only focus on something that comes natural to him?

Good little video but I fear I disagree with the author. To condense his long and entertaining video to its bare bones: Joyce will be bigger, and hopefully will have more head movement than a statue. That's it. The big hope is that Joyce will eat even more punches until Zhang is tired. That ... is not a good gameplan even if I say so myself. We could call it the Homer Simpson gameplan, and it was bad even in the cartoons.

Joyce needs to address the fact that he landed very little of consequence on Zhang, and that Zhang is a better boxer with his subtle parries and other skills, than people give him credit for. Joyce needs a new gameplan that involves him translating his pressure and durability into damage. "Take even more punches to the face" is an admirable and very British plan, but it's not going to cut it. JJ needs to unload with short chopping shots when close, kind of like Beterbiev, and hope that throwing enough of them means that a good percentage get through. The problem is that JJ is slower than a hibernating sloth, and Zhang is pretty quick for a guy his size.

The biggest problem for Joyce will be if somebody looks under Zhang's bed and finds the running shoes ZZ lost in 1987. If the only thing Zhang does is improve his cardio, all of Joyce's plans can be thrown in the dustbin.

I disagree with the premise he'll be fine if he reaches round 6, his defense is known to be porous and it won't improve now. The longer it goes the more he's hit and his face looks like he was in a bad car wreck. I think the opposite could be true, Joyce needs to jump on Zhang and give him no punching room, make it a mauling brawling fight and wear Zhang done with strength. If Zhang controls distance again the best Joyce can hope for is losing a UD.

Career suicide from Joyce. Should take a leaf out of furys book and side step your way to the belts.

Being brave doesn't get you anywhere today. Look at AJ, whyte etc fighting decent opposition and losing gets you ridiculed.

Yeah, you need to capitalize the if at the beginning of the 2nd paragraph and make it 4 times larger than the other letters, because the if is a big if. Here is another one. If Zhang did it once, he can do it again.
