When you’re talking about a man with George Foreman’s power literally anything is possible. So yes.. him knocking out a 1939 Joe Louis could happen.. is it something I’d make him a favorite to do ? Probably not
He definitely was. Good chin, good defense, huge power. Didn’t waste shots. Great trainer in his corner. Kept busy and fought actively.
Not if Louis knows what he's up against. I think Louis largely underestimated Galento, and got clocked as a result. Louis of '39 was still prime Louis, and if he knew about Foreman's abilities I see him coasting to a UD or potentially getting a stoppage.
1991 Foreman is a dangerous fighter, with good defense and a great chin. However, I think that in 1939 Joe Louis would have managed to outscore him, as 208lns Holyfield managed (or as chinny Morrison managed two years later). 1939 Joe Louis is too much skill for the slow Foreman.
