Lifetime ban and Bellew has to publicly apologise for abandoning his stance on drug cheats because he’s mates with Benn.
Not sure they announce things overnight as such - it could be a while to see something official. Amir Khan had a sanction announced 2 months after it was awarded, presumably to allow time for an appeal. If Benn’s in the clear presumably he’ll shout it from the rooftops unless UKAD or any other stakeholder wants to pursue it further…
One aspect of this which surprised me was how much credibility Hearn was willing to sacrifice on the alter of getting the fight back on. I would've thought he'd take the long view, but instead he undermined his own carefully established position and aligned himself and by extension his promotional company and broadcast partner with someone who had twice failed the best independent testing available to the sport.
I kind of understood him doing a full u-turn on Canelo as he’s a superstar but Benn hasn’t even won a British title and is as likeable as a wasp sting.
Exactly, Eddie went full turn with his stance on Canelo but he was the biggest superstar in boxing at the time. Benn is about as popular as Philip Schofield
Dont need a rankings Dont need no belt Dont need a commission Im conor ****ing benn You know me everyone knows me koogs
Not sure about another failed test, but there's a lot of talk on Twitter about him losing his WBC ranking, something is going on, not sure what exactly.
Hearn also said that Benn had only failed one test and those claiming he'd failed two were just trouble makers with an agenda. Amazing how confident he must have felt to flat out lie like that thinking the truth wouldn't come out. Really makes you wonder how often this sort of thing goes on behind the scenes (like it's standard procedure for Hearn) and we never hear about it.
Is there anything legality wise where Benn not being in any rankings benefits him or his case in any way? I can't think of anything myself. It seems strange to do this now, if he's been cleared and they're papering it then this moves makes 0 sense as the WBC have been willing to have him in their rankings whilst all of this was up in the air. Something is going on behind the scenes.
Imagine if Eddie Hearn had behaved properly and didn't have so many enemies within the boxing world, it could be that Conor Benn would have been cleared by now and ready to make a comeback.
