This might be a long post...haha. 1) Erroll's chin. In the Ugas fight people said oh if Ugas hurt him, TC gonna kill him. What isn't being considered is that a) he actually got punched in the throat there b) Errol said that he thought his fake teeth came out so that is why he went looking for the piece and that when he was back on the ropes he was smiling not because he was hurt, but because he licked his front teeth and knew that they were still in his mouth. Also important to note his old mouthpiece was made for his mouth prior to the accident. His new one is form fitted. 2) Terrence being this one-hitter quitter that has murdered every Welterweight. This is simply not true. He is more of an accumulation puncher and of the guys he stopped, how many were ACTUALLY KO'd? Amir wasn't. He took a nutshot and quit. Shawn wasn't "out on his feet" and most of the other guys took clean shots for several rounds. Now don't get it twisted, TC can PUNCH, but people around here acting like TC is gonna crank him once hard and then end it with some type of Street Fighter flurry. Errol is more responsible than anyone TC has beaten. 4) Erroll will be weight drained. I don't see this either. He has smartened up and has a nutritionist and is also embracing non traditional training and rest/healing methods. Counting on him to be drained is silly. 3) Terrence is more athleticism than boxing skill. I don't buy this for a second. At the same time I also think this "switch hitter" bit is overdone. With Terrence I think he can be lured out of a fundamentally sound approach but he has yet to meet a guy who kept him honest. His footwork imo is better than Spence's. Again I am picking Spence to win because I expect the fight to look more like a Spence fight. Terrence has been able to land consistently on his opponents, wears them down and then hurts them late. I don't see TC having that same consistent success this fight and most of all, many seem to give no weighting to what Spence does. TC will have success and he will hit Earl no doubt, but why are folks not also seeing that the bodywork Earl is going to do can not only slow TC down but possibly force him to fight in a different way? They only seem to think "TC somewhere past round 6 is gonna hurt Earl, then it's game over." Again don't think I am saying TC can't win, he can. I just think it is unlikely it plays out like most think.
There is no reason either fighter isnt gonna be confident. Both fighters pretty much blew away their comp and havent had many competitive fights. Spence vs brook was prob the most competitve fight was a long time ago and spence stopped him. Errol dominated every fighter he faced. Why wouldnt he be confident?
Paulie Malignaggni also agrees with me: https://www.boxingnews24.com/2023/0...too-much-for-crawford-says-paulie-malignaggi/
Terence is more athleticism then boxing skill? That just isnt true. Terence is the most versatile fighter on the planet and shows the ability to adjust better then anyone else in the game today. He throws more precise technical shots and literally runs people into the punches. That is high level skill. I dont think errol was hurt at all in the ugas fight. Terrence has more one punch power then errol, but its his finishing ability when he gets you hurt. I dont think errol is drained at 147 but hed be stronger at 154. 147, terence is a more natural welter than spence. spence a more natural 154. If spence fights this fight like he fought ugas or porter its a mistake and its gonna cost him.
also, who is the better body snatcher? I think you should rewatch crawford vs porter and get back to me.
It was a good win and I am not on "Team Spence" and I don't hate TC. I just think some things are being blown out of proportion (i.e. Spence's accident) that are painting a slighted picture of reality and I think Spence is gonna win. I do not see an easy road for whoever wins.
So we basically agree on almost everything. Edit: You DID understand I was disagreeing that TC was more athleticism than fundamental, right? He imo is extremely fundamentally sound.
agree, I think crawford is good ennough to be able to time spence on the inside with a catch n counter. S my bad, i think people are underrated both fighters skill. I think crawford has better balance and speed of foot and hand is where he will capitalize at some point on the inside with a catch n counter, get him stunned and may stop him late. People are also underestimating both fighters willingness to take risks. both dudes have had near death experiences. When youve gone through something like this you have no fear. I think this is gonna bite spence in the ass at some point in the fight.
I see that spence throws more body shots and sticks to the body but his shots are more like wear you down shots where crawfords bodyshots are more precise and when he runs you into them its more powerful. porter will agree if being honest. I also dont buy that porter was in better shape for spence then he was crawford. Spence fought porters fight whereas crawford forced porter to fight his fight. In about round 5 crawford was in full control and had porter timed. Moving back and getting out of the way of porters shots and running him into shots. Took porter into unfamiliar territory, broke him down and stopped him. No way does team porter wear a tribute to hagler, "WAR" outfits into the ring and not be in top shape. Plus the whole buildup porter was saying this is a legacy fight for him. Kenny knew the fight was over and his son was gonna suffer a savage beating so he waived it off and created his excuse. Smart move, shawn might not be here today.
