I think Marvis smartly boxes his way to a lead on the cards after five or six rounds … then George gets the timing and it’s nightie-night.
You talk like a man with a hole in his head. If you know anything about boxing then you would recognize when boxing IQ is in effect.
That's not relevant to the statement you posed about ring IQ being intangible. Ring IQ is very tangible.
Ducking Tyson to fight Foreman is jumping out of the frying pan into the fire. Marvis has some success early but at some point gets caught by something big. I would be very surprised if he made it past the 7th. I think Stewart is the only guy Foreman didn't stop after knocking him down in the 90's and Stewart had the legs and power to keep Foreman from just bum rushing him.
He was, he just couldn't beat the top guys. Part of it was because his bodybuild wasn't made for heavyweight. He was 210 vs Tyson but looked like a soft 210. He likely would have done better at cruiser. He didn't do that bad at heavyweight.
True. There was no money at cruiserweight at the time. But Marvis also had bad strategies vs Holmes and Tyson. He held his hands low vs Holmes and basically allowed Holmes to attack. He tried to go toe to toe with Mike who had faster hands. Bad bad idea.
Winning a few fights don't make you a fighter. Fighting wasn't his dream, it was his fathers. He didn't have that heart.
I think Holmes and Tyson deserve more credit for beating Marvis. I think Marvis was as good as anyone else around.
