This content is protected I'm not sure you'll find one better than Naoya Inoue's. In the same ballpark, maybe. The alternative names I'd expect to get bandied about would be Canelo, Donaire, and Kingry...and until a few years ago GGG. Anybody else super obvious I'm not thinking of? I will put up a poll once a fair number of nominations have been made.
Also may be courting some minor controversy with this, but don't think we've seen one since prime Cotto that's been as good.
This category of course would have once upon a time been dominated by Mexicans, but now there are only two in the running (one a pretty boy Chicano, and the other looks full-blooded Irish ) rivaled by as many Asians...three if you count Golovkin and four, actually, if you add Ioka. ¿Cómo se llama copium? Doesn't help that Nacho and some of the rest of the country's old guard of excellent coaches are wrapping up their careers without much generational backfill.
Gassiev's is brutal. That's a large man delivering that punch. Makes me queasy just thinking about what it must be like to absorb one of those to the liver.
Canelo, GGG, I think Jose Ramirez deserves a mention. But they’re all just playing for second. Inoue is leading this category.
The poll will be Inoue, Canelo, Donaire, Kingry, GGG, Ioka, Tszyu, Gassiev and Jaguar unless I see an upswell of support for different choices by this hour tomorrow.
I mean it's pretty good tbf. Several better ones named in this very thread but it might just be a top 10 left rip downstairs in the game right now.
Right now there is no better body puncher in boxing than Inoue. In fact he might be the most scary body puncher I've ever witnessed, so many of his stoppages come from shots to the body.
