OVERALL: Who's a better boxer, Dmitry Bivol or Vasily Lomachenko?

Eh I don’t think so. I think there’s been a pretty big skill gap in just about every one of Bivol’s fights. Loma has been up against all types of different and difficult styles.

I don’t Bivol’s competition can even come close to Loma’s in a p4p sense.

 

Loma was awful in his last 5 fights. Which means he's not that good, no consistency.

Bivol has never been bad in any of his fights.

Loma wasnt even big for 130.
Haney and Teo are really really good fighters. Theyll go down as greats of this era.
Bivol hasnt faced a challenge like that yet.
I dont think he could make it close against a LHW Michael Moorer or Michael Spinks for example. Especially not if he was in decline

 

Salido was his second fight and was close. Lopez is now WBO lightwelter champion to put it in perspective that's like Bivol taking on a solid Cruiserweight fighter who then went on to be a heavyweight champion.

As for Bivol's win over Canelo it'd be like Loma staying at feather and beating Inou at that weight which I'd fully expect him to do.

 

Looked decent vs. Haney to me. That was a fight vs. an undisputed champion most thought he won.

 

Bivol is a textbook masterclass and Loma is jazz

 

Because Bivols that Good. Skill is kind of subjective. Bivols IQ and Ring Generalship is certainly greater than Lomas and resume is debatable at this point

 

This. Bivol is pure textbook, he does it all by the book. No flash, dazzle or slickness. Just as well schooled as you can get.
Loma, has tore up that rule book and fused a different philosophy.

 

Fighters move up in weight all the time, and it doesn't cheapen their wins at the lower weight class. Comparing Loma/Lopez to Bivol/HW is completely nonsensical. Loma won titles at 135 but defeated GRJ (career FW) at 126; does that diminish Loma's achievement? Does it improve GRJ's legacy that Loma later moved up? Of course not. You can't have it both ways.

It doesn't matter that you'd expect Loma to defeat Inoue at 126; the point is he hasn't done it. He hasn't defeated any great fighters, in fact, and I'd probably rate GRJ as his best win. I rate Loma as a great fighter and he's undoubtedly one of the flashiest guys in the modern era -- I also like him personally -- but the constant excuses are old. He's not on Bivol's level in terms of accomplishment.

 

Technique wise Bivol might be the best of our generation. He has the best fundamentals and pendulum step out of any boxer I have seen.

 

What's Canelo accomplished at 175lbs to deem him such a brilliant win for Bivol? Lomachenko cleaned out a few weight clases something Bivol hasn't done yet. Lomachenko could still make SFW imo.
