But Lewis wasn't likeable and that had nothing to do with Hearn who rose to prominence with Froch.

Genuine boxing fans loved Lewis but he had issues that affected his popularity with the British Public.

    1. Frank Bruno was loved by all, a hero to the British Public and Lewis beat him.
    2. The press had it in for Lewis big time, banged on about him being a Canadian and the public never took to him in the same way as Bruno.
    3. Bruno fought on ITV while Lewis was mainly on Sky at a time where not many watched his fights.

Lewis shows him zero respect, as he knows how fragile he is and puts it on him from the off, ala Golota and demolishes him.

Yeah, but Lewis just wasn't likeable in terms of personality and he was boring most of the time also.

Joshua is super, super, super likeable and he is super, super, super exciting (mostly).

Lewis era had much better fighters. McCall and Rahman in their respective primes, would have been a little too much for Joshua. I can't see Joshua lasting more than 6 once Lewis gets angry.

McCall would be dangerous for AJ in the same sense as Andy Ruiz, but Rahman only has a punchers chance, he's a massively overated fighter.

    .

Rahman 's wins over Sanders and Lewis, were better than all of Joshua 's wins sadly. I thought he beat Tua in the second fight.

I know you hate him but he did show massive heart in the Wladimr Klitschko fight, and against Dillian Whyte

It's not a Matchroom net. It just seems to me like you're someone who started watching boxing after Lewis retired. He wasn't popular and he was lauded for being boring.

I'm not Eddie's biggest fan but there's no doubting he did a great job building Joshua up to a mega star.

And he also made Chisora and Whyte multi millionaires which takes some doing.

His tie in with Sky was perfect for bigging up mediocre fighters

It's ironic that Bruno only really made big money - and won a title - on Sky once he was really past his best. It took Sky money and Warren promotion to engineer the one last shot.

The versions of each fighter who fought a Klitschko would make it an even contest. Lewis was slow and ready to retire against Vitali; AJ against Wlad showed he had some balls and ability to finish. Any earlier Lewis or later version of AJ and it's one-sided.

The man fought everybody there was to fight and ducked nobody.

A golden era for Heavweights compared to the grey era today where ducking fights instead of punches is the norm.

Rose tinted. Two of Lewis' marquee rivalries were 'resolved' well past their sell by date: Lewis vs Holyfield, Lewis vs Tyson. People in the 1990's moaned that it was a weak era, also. People like you who started watching boxing much later wouldn't even believe that.
