My first instinct was to say he doesn’t make it to the end of round one…. Then I remembered…. He came out of retirement after two years to go 8 rounds with a prime Joe Louis and even decked him. I’m hesitant to say that he’d get blasted out early. Does he go to the cards ? I doubt it

    1 round

Louis was great but he was patient and took his time. Mike has way faster feet than Joe and will blast him in 1 round.

I'd be surprised if Jim Braddock lasted longer than Michael Spinks.
1988 Mike Tyson is a H2H nightmare; Jim Braddock certainly isn't.

    Less than 90 seconds.

We should be real that a LHW gatekeeper with a chronically busted hand isn't going to go a full round with early 80s daddy Tyson!

The most overrated heavyweight vs an underrated heavyweight.

That being said, he could get blasted out in the 1st round. If he gets through the first couple, who knows.

Yes he went 8 with Louis but Joe wasn't rushing out like a train, at Braddock.
He even got decked by him in the first, that's not happening here against Tyson.

I think Braddock gets over whelmed very quickly, I don't see it getting out of the first tbh.

When you read the thread title you’d bet your house that Braddock’s fate would be analogised to that of the terrified lamb awaiting its slaughter - one Michael Spinks.

Mike had two other fights in 88 vs old, inactive and ill prepared Holmes - that lasted 4 rounds. Then there was Tubbs who lasted 2 rounds.

It might be argued that Mike hit his crescendo against Spinks - but as presented on the night, Spinks was his worst opponent in 1988 in terms of quality.

But then you read that version of Tyson and his related success again Spinks being superimposed upon all manner of superior fighters and/or fighters of greater durability and more steeled mindset

I’m not saying Braddock was superior to Spinks per se, but he isn’t necessarily going to go as easily and quickly as THAT version of Spinks did.

Braddock absorbed a number of hellacious shots from Louis before succumbing to the ATG, bone crushing right hand.

I’m not sure how long Braddock could last vs Mike but I’m certainly giving him more than 91 seconds and likely allowing him more than one round.

I think Jim lasts longer than a round but not much longer.

Braddock gets knocked out in round one. How fast is anyone’s guess. But I’m only replying to your particular post to ask this. What has Lineal go to do with it?

Jim Braddock is treated as a jabroni here but the guy was a pretty solid prize fighter. He would have nothing for Tyson though, but he’d come out there unafraid and give it his best shot. Against Louis he came right out there and started throwing punches.
