Estrada's definitely a P4P staple, though he's on the latter half of the list for me.

Inoue would have blitzed Choco in violent fashion along with Cuadras and SSR. How do you see Inoue versus Gallo?

How is BUD anywhere close to P4P considering he has never faced an elite opponent? He may just crack the top 10 if he beats Spence.

    That's a little harsh.

It is the single black mark against Noaya that he skipped 112 when Gonzalez and Estrada were the 1 and 2. Clearly, either one of them would have been the best scalp of his career, and Estrada is probably the toughest challenge he could have faced this side of Junto.

Inoue has had nothing short of a masterful career. But the big fight(s) have eluded him. Stephen Fulton, 36 year old Donaire and Emmanuel freaking Rodriguez are not the types of fights to look back on 15 years later and think, wow, that was a tough assignment.

I wouldn't say it's a black mark. Team Inoue offered Choco a fight and it was turned down due to money. Inoue was 11-0 at the time and HBO was already building up the fight by putting Inoue against Nieves on the Choco undercard. Then Choco was knocked out and Estrada was too busy with SSR and Cuadras and it was obvious that Inoue wasn't part of their little circle. All were spared a beating anyways.

    It is.

Beating Gonzalez or Estrada would have been excellent for Inoue. If he'd spent two fights at 112lbs he might have got one or the other. That would have been better than not doing it. If you prefer not to use the phrase "black mark" that is ok with me, but some expression of words that indicates that he didn't do something that would have been good if he had done it or tried to do it is called for.

I would call it a shame, but by no means Inoue's fault as he called for the Chocolito fight and was rejected. He had already been at the weight 2.5 years, so that was a very small window.

I get into this a lot with superfans.

It's not about "Fault" or attributing blame. It's about the fact that Inoue didn't fight at 112lbs when he was at the top. And 112lbs were where all the best scalps for a 108-115lb fighter (Which is what Naoya was from 2014-2017). I don't accept that Inoue once offering one of these fighters a fight absolves him of all blame though. That's not reasonable. If Inoue wanted to mount a 112lb campaign to get one or the other of these guys, he could have, and the only way to avoid a fight with him would have been an outright duck. I think the idea that both Estrada and Gonzalez would have both ducked Inoue is very unlikely, but they were the kings of that division and Inoue had no right to fight them without earning it, say by poleaxing Yaegashi.

Maybe he just couldn't have done 112lbs any more - also not his "fault" but an absence of the best fighters in or around his weight-class nonetheless.

I mean, one could also argue that Choco and Estrada missed the opportunity to run it with the then rising superstar. Inoue pursued the fight. One rejected it and the other seemed to only use Inoue's name for clout (Estrada said he wanted to fight Inoue at 118, but preferred a 4th fight w/ Choco).

Why do you even post? You honestly think someone that disagrees with you will read your post and be like, damn, he's right. I'll stop arguing about the P4P list? LOL
