Well how will you ever know if it's Deep Red level, if you don't watch and find out?

Fair, that was an exaggeration. Straw and light fly were the ones I was thinking of, and there was a point several years back when I know 105 had just barely triple digits (or may have actually dipped into the high nineties) and 108 had just shy of two hundred. There was a post of mine somewhere here that captured the # active then in each division, but for the life of me can't remember what keywords to use to find it. Shame because that'd be a fun time capsule to have a gander.

Interestingly, female boxing has undergone an even greater explosive growth at the bottom limits of the scale. I wrote this in 2012:

    https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/is-female-boxing-really-that-s-y.394120/page-2#post-12573258

...at which time both straw and light fly were in double-digit representation for the ladies (96 & 98 active competitors each, 194 total south of 112lbs). Atomweight didn't exist yet, at least outside the amateurs.

Now, there are 346 women competing below flyweight. (57 atom, 134 straw, 155 light fly)

78.36% increase. Get it, grrrls! :cheer:

Well... eventually. First 45 for first 45, López's résumé absolutely slays JCC's. :sisi1

Different career paths I would say. Lopez had already been established as a reigning champion by his 45th fight, even beating future champ Saman Sorjaturong, while Chavez was slowly building himself up by beating no-hopers early on. It's no secret that Chavez's resume was deliberately being padded up. To be fair though Chavez was only 23 by the time he fought Roger Mayweather the first time.

Thanks a lot. Actually I have to admit to be a "otherwise" bloodthirsty. In every fight of every category I would like to see blood splashing in the ring, broken eye sockets, noses and eardrums, concussions, imagine broken ribs and see in slow motion teeth jumping out of the mouth especially belonging to fighters like Wilder, or Joshua, or Canelo at the hands of masters of technique like Usyk or Bivol or underdogs like Ruiz. Is this weirdo? Probably it is, but who cares? Happy to be. My spirit is shaped like this and its stronger than me.

PS: every day I see at work any kind of bullies: murderers, thieves, pimps, drugs dealers, rapers, etc. who get in and get out the prison continuing to do evil to good and poor people. Its hard they repent. Heres why I like to see in boxing good and humble people or underdogs destroy bullies or punchers. Its how a form of social justice or revenge that balances (even if minimally) a world so unfair.

Yeah, I know. I was going to be a female straweight but unfortunately it seems I'll have to turn my attention over to women's bare knuckle boxing.

Seriously, though, I'm going to create a thread to track the number of participants per division soon, and update it yearly, so we can track "competition pool" claims and give the future generation a fair shake (good or bad) for the level of talent they face.

CST is a great fan of "Suspiria".
To me instead the true masterpiece of Argento is "Deep Red" an exciting jump in the growth of a ruthless serial killer of the 70s, in her mind and her motivations that push her to kill. Suspiria plot like Phenomena one are too methaphysical imo. Honestly I prefer the remake of Suspiria by Luca Guadagnino.

Those same people will tell us we then must worship the ground Claressa Shields walks on for doing the same thing in equally shallow divisions of even uglier records and far, FAR lesser skill.

Ok but why on earth would you believe that underdog stories can only play out at heavyweight?? :sherlock:

Heavyweight is literally the LIKELIEST division for a big dumb bully to beat a plucky smaller and more skilled underdog.
