Not shot just stopped training how he needed to train to get success. Started too late in the game. Lacked natural ability. Also had problems with extending his left arm making him unable to jab effectively.

He got to where he needed to by training relentlessly helping him bridge the gap. He stopped doing that and now its starting to show in his boxing.

Saunders, Groves and Smith Aren't the highest level. Guys like GGG, Canelo, Benavidez and Andrade are the highest level among Eubank Jr's weight classes

:qmeparto:...this and repeatedly going on like Eubank pulled Groves' arm out of it's socket (as if that would be impressive in a boxing match). The guy's a German helmet.

Pretty much this. It was his high workrate and output that made him effective earlier in his career to make up for his lack of basic fundamentals such as developing an effective jab.

Now he has Roy Jones Jr trying to teach him a style similar to how he boxed himself and Eubank is no good at it.

He won a meaningless belt which isn't by any stretch a "world title", by beating some chump no one had heard of.

BJS was a domestic level fighter at the time, Eubank was the heavy favourite "because of his name" and was hyped up to be this animal and he came up short.

Groves boxed the ears off him pretty comfortably in the end, Eubank once again showed his lack of IQ and general boxing ability....if you think Eubank was his toughest opponent you obvs haven't watched the Badou Jack, James Degale or Froch 2 fights.

Avni YIldirim isn't much good either, neither was a 50 year old Abraham or a retired Degale.

Made a decent amount of money though that you can't take away from him, a hell of a career? No. He's lost to 3 British guys and his best win was someone who retired a week later.

My money would be on another Smith victory - albeit going into the later rounds this time. Should that happen, at his age, and a 4th defeat with money in the bank, is that the end of him? Possibly a cash out against Benn in the future, but even that wouldn't be the draw it would of been as should he lose again he will be widely regarded as washed at thar point

Agreed. Your always going to end up a poor imitation trying to copy roy jones. Roy was blessed with a level of athletism that very few will ever have. He had chris boxing pretty well at times but it will always fall apart when really tested. Must be frustrating for roy being a trainer because what hes teaching them isnt bad and from his eyes it should work....but without that blessed athletism he had....its always going to bring limited returns.

    A combination of things.

He's always had a fantastic chin but I don't think he can perform to peak performance at 160 anymore and draining yourself down to make that sort of weight will affect your ability to take a shot.

Secondly, his best asset was his ruggedness in being aggressive, roughing opponents up and letting his hands go... breaking opponents down. He's now standing off more and trying to box... it's not his game at all. Needs to go back to his strengths.

He was better before Roy at least it was entertaining.

He was like a journeyman against Groves absolutely no toe to toe whatsoever he was in survival mode. That’s the only reason he saw the final bell. It was a shut out. He was petrified to engage from the start. As Liam Smith said he couldn’t be live how terrified this lad with a so called granite chin was of being hit. Groves found his range within 10/20 seconds and Eubank didn’t want to know. He was knocked down more than once but they were not scored. Groves arm was ripped out from throwing a punch, not by Chris as you make out he could have done it shadowboxing. Eubank is then buzzed by a one armed Groves towards the end of the fight.

Your obsession with this con man has always been strange I bet you’d love to watch through the wardrobe as he went to town on your missus. If he’s into that sort of thing that is.

Deluded mate. Eubank didn’t want any Callum fight by the way. I wish to god he had it so he could have been out like Luke Blackledge. How satisfying would that have been even more than Liam’s one after having to listen to a decade of absolute drivel.

He was a durable, strong, European level fighter, not quite good enough to be a world level fighter. Probably could have gone further if he an ego check early on in his career and listened to his trainer, but then probably wouldn't have sold as many tickets.
For a few years he should have remained more active instead of chasing GGG for a payday.
Currently, I think he's a bit to shot to get any meaningful wins.
