Let's take the nostalgia and the emotions out of the equation. Leonard was great but he struggled against lesser skilled fighters than Crawford (Duran, Hearns, Benietez, and Hagler). Leonard has had a lot of close fights while Crawford has always won in dominating fashion. I honestly think Crawford would beat Leonard. Thoughts?

LOL, well this should be interesting.

While your question is seriously flawed, I do think Bud could beat Ray. If it were a best of ten type thing I could see Crawford winning three of them.

I could see Crawford winning 0 of them. He’s overrated.

I think Duran and Hearns were "Physical Specimens" but Crawford is much more skilled than the other two and Benitez was a great defensive fighter but that's it. He didn't have the speed, power, or athleticism that Crawford has.

Thoughts? The fact you called Duran, Hearns, Benitez and Hagler lesser skilled fighters shows YDKSAB.

All those fighters were very highly skilled and all of them greats and all do certain things better than Crawford.

As for Crawford beating Leonard, he hasn't done enough to pick him over Leonard. Leonard is far superior to Spence, he's also faster, more agile and more explosive than Crawford. Leonard fought in a welterweight era that was far, far deeper than the current era. Benitez I think is better than Spence and he's the weakest of the 3 welters you mentioned.

This was as predictable as the sun coming up in the morning.

I expected you to flood the thread with this sort of BS, and here you are.

    Mr. Everything modern is superior.

    Mr. No context.

    Terrence is a great fighter.

However, he wasn’t more skilled than all of the guys that you’ve mentioned.

Yes, he didn’t struggle in some fights like Leonard did. But then he never fought the same calibre of guys that Leonard did, and that includes last night’s Spence.

Has it not occurred to you that it’s easier to dominate lesser guys?

Terrence is still yet to fight a prime ATG.

Regarding a H2H fight against Leonard, he’d have had a genuine shot at beating Ray. But I think that Ray’s speed would have given him the edge.

Here’s something for you to ponder:

If Terrence had fought in the 70’s and 80’s, back in the days of same day weigh-ins, he’d have been fighting at JMW-MW.

So how do you think he’d have fared against: Mike McCallum, Marvin Hagler and Thomas Hearns?

Oh Lord in Heaven the things Hearns and Hagler do to Crawford from size differences alone.

Hell, if he met Duran at lightweight, where he was chin-checked by Gamboa, he might not get out of the ring alive.

The person he stands the best chance against would be SRL, who would smoke him in a subsequent rematch.

Could he? Sure! Would he? Not a far fetched question, by any means. I would favor Leonard (especially over 15) to beat Bud. But it should be a tough and close fight either way.

but Crawford Vs DLH/Tito would likely be better match ups for him

Leonard wins but Crawford isn't getting dominated. Probably a 8-4 fight

Tito was a less-technical more powerful version of Spence and Oscar was overrated who beat no one great
