Putting Crawford's Domination & Stoppage of Errol Spence Jr. Into Its Proper Perspective.

Let's look at the last 5 years of Spence's career and you'll see how little he accomplished.

2019 - Dragged up Mikey Garcia 2 divisions and couldn't knock him out.
2019 - Went life and death against Porter.
2020 - Won a close, but clear decision against Danny Garcia, who was 3-2 going into the fight against Spence.
2021 - Had a big accident that probably damaged him physically and mentally.
2022 - Stopped Ugas, whose biggest accomplishment was barely winning a decision against a very old Pacquiao.

That's it. 4 fights in the last 5 years before Crawford. His best win was a razor thin decision against Porter, next to surviving a car crash.

And somehow, people were ranking him in the top 5 P4P.

 

Gary Antonio Russell, Wau'shee Warren, and Casimero also declined to fight him in December 2021.

 

Spences p4p was always inflated. Everyone was putting him on their lists after he beat Brook who was just knocked out and coming down in weight. I called it out when it was happening, and people called me dumb. What other fighter gets put on the p4p top 10 after winning their first title?

 

Well this was a huge eye opening post that made me feel like a complete moron for being on the Spence train for a few years. I was picking Crawford by ko based on styles, but my analysis wasn’t anywhere near as deep as this. I’ve always thought you had one of the best boxing brains on this forum when you don’t get heated in the moment.

It's a two horse race and there were plenty of experts giving Spence the edge going in.

Even though Crawford has been in close to 20 world title fights, he never showed that he had that capability to do that to another undefeated dominant P4P fighter, that was some performance.

From a logical perspective, fans should have had reservations on Crawford going into this (if they didn't they were going on hope alone), after the fight though, logically, no more reservations as he's proved all doubters wrong.

He's defeated an undefeated unified welterweight champion with some solid wins throughout his career on a huge stage for all the marbles - that's why.

 

Anyone can pick holes in any fighters resume throughout history.... sounds like you couldn't wait to get started on this one

I think Spence's weight deffo played a part , but even if the fight was at 154lbs Crawford is just levels above him, Crawford is complete boxer and as I said so many times can beat Spence in a few ways , Spence only had pressure and size and only one way of trying to beat him , and both things didn't do nothing to stop Crawford dominate him.

Crawford is a prime example of being naturally gifted and extremely dedicated to the craft and always being in the gym that is a deadly combination, he is a model professional athlete.. the guy deserves all the respect he is getting and more .. a special fighter ..
