I think we saw it, didn't we? He snaked by Barkley by just a smidge. Think that's his high-water mark in terms of historical pondering.
Yes, a smidge. Without the knockdown there wasn't much between them. Exceptionally close fight. Ergo, smidge.
I think the version of Duran that fought Leonard had he packed some mass on would’ve done better against Barkley no?
I think what they are trying to say is the version that fought Hagler was more able than the version that beat Barkley.
I made a thread once posing this very question; which Duran was better, the '83 Hagler version or the '89 Barkley edition. There was some back and forth about it, which kind of surprised me.
I don't know. We'd have to guess that the only reason we'd say such a thing would be because he was younger, but he then wouldn't have the time to acclimate to 160 more naturally as he had before.
Interesting, i thought it would be one way traffic to be honest especially in here. I wonder whether some are getting caught up in the inspiration and action. For me there's no way Duran could have been as good as he was against Hagler more than half a decade later.
Hagler Duran MD Smidge Duran. Most ringsiders have it by a clear margin, but one of the judges was star struck by 'Smidge' and scores it level.
