Apart from the spectacular and tough guys Foreman beat, before and after those guys? He didn't beat anyone who was spectacular or even particularly tough. I don't see anyone on his resume who wasn't among those demographics who were among those demographics. Probably not a coincidence. Verdict? Hype job.
Ali beat Foremsn in late 74 and fought Young in 76. Foreman would get an extra year and a half out his reign if he didn’t fight Ali. And Bugner might’ve beaten him before that. Not sure who the mandatory challengers were back then. I don’t believe that Ali ruined him.
Yes, Bugner who never got stopped in the 70s despite fighting everyone. Odd how Foreman didn’t go looking for this guy during either comeback.
He was a relevant big name in the late 70s and late 80s. No sense in fighting unknown cans instead, right?
It is true that Foreman went on a reasonable winning streak post Ali fight, so possibly the psychological aspect has been over estimated into a myth? On the other hand I feel that a Foreman who destroyed Ali would for a few years at least be almost indestructible, like Tyson at his peak, but I think that like Tyson complacency could have been his undoing. Bugner is an amazing mystery to me, he certainly had all the tools but seemed to lack the killer instinct. A Foreman fight is intriguing as I can't see Foreman blowing him out, but I do feel Joe would be safety first. It maybe like Tyson vs Tucker, if not in styles but in dynamic with Joe fighting a passive fight but still frustrating George.
Foreman was never going to destroy mid 70s Ali. The fight could’ve either happened or not happened. That’s like saying Byrd could’ve had a long reign if he outboxed Wlad.
Ignore my word "destroy", just assume I mean beat! I am just throwing ideas out there based on the idea Foreman wins the Rumble.
If Foreman actually managed to beat Ali, the manner of victory probably wouldnt have made him that scary.
Ah. I see. Just another case of your lack of historical knowledge and extreme bias making you come off like a troll.
