He wasn't operating at a high level on fight night. He looked awful, unusually slow, poor workrate, winging punches from way too far back, he just looked horrible. I wouldn't favor that version of Spence to defeat anyone in the top 5 at welterweight. I'm not sure if it was the layoff, weight drain, or the effects of a TBI but that was no top welterweight in the ring.

Didn't the doctor check him between rounds early in the fight? That was odd. You never see a doctor do that early in the fight. Maybe they knew something.

How much is due to Crawford being way better though? He didnt look like that vs Ugas.
It sounds to me like attenpts to diminish his win by making him look like Ali vs Berbick.
Hopkins also suffered from this whenever he beat the breaks of an opponent then it usually ruined the opponent and his win got diminished.

Yeah that was weird. Why was he checking him? Thought it was his eye at first or just making sure he was fine after the kd. But why suddenly at the start if the round.

My thing is they must have knew that Spence was compromised cuz why did the doctor step in after just one knockdown?

Every time I saw a Spence interview he looked slow/stoned, years before any accident.

There is probably damage from the accident too. But it he was that obviously sick, the commission wouldn't pass him to fight.

Too many people have died in recent years for the commission to take a risk on a walking corpse.

Fight went as expected. No nuerological damage excuse needed. Crawford’s past opponents didn’t charge into his right hand jab. Except Brook and he got KO’d too.

First thing, Crawford looked better Saturday than at any time I've ever seen him fight.

That said, I was going to bring this up, too. Glad someone else noticed.

I always assumed Spence was a stoner. You'd see him attending fights and he'd always looked kind of glazed over. Thought he just liked to smoke a lot of weed.

But the more you read the more you see medical people discussing how that "glazed over" look is also a sign of damage to the brain. - fallout from the wreck and being a prizefighter.

The way the referee called the doctor in so early in the fight to have Spence checked out seemed "really" odd in that situation.

These were supposed to be two high-level guys, but when one goes down from a hard jab, and all of a sudden the doctor is in there checking him out ... it seemed "REALLY" premature ... like everyone behind the scenes knew something we, as fans, didn't.

Makes you wonder if the promoters or the Nevada commission couldn't release that health information because Spence wouldn't allow them to (HIPAA violation). And if it wasn't deemed bad enough for the Nevada commission to refuse to allow Spence to fight, then they just had to keep their mouths shut about whatever was going on.

We were talking about Tommy Morrison on the Classic board last week, and I remember when Morrison tested positive for HIV before a fight. And Marc Ratner, the Nevada chairman, came on TV, and he just said the fight with Morrison was off because he failed his medical. But he couldn't say publicly what that meant, even though he was asked. (They had to wait for Morrison to announce it.)

So if Spence has some physical issues with his head, but those issues weren't deemed bad enough to call off the fight beforehand, unless Spence okays it, nobody can really publicly say anything about it.

But they (the referee and the doctor) both seemed like they knew something and were worried enough to check on him "really" early in the fight.

Spence was slower than usual, and no pull on his punches, and he looked much weaker than he usually does. But it doesn't surprise me that the Boxing Commission wouldn't hire their own "personal" doctor to approve Spence for this fight. This fight brought in millions for everyone and American has shown that they will sacrifice the lives of poor young men to line their pockets.

Yea. Some guy who works with alzheimer’s patients probably in an old people’s home, saying he see’s something in Spence but for some reason only spotted it in the fight Spence was expected to lose, and said nothing until after the beatdown. So although it was clear to him straight away, he still needed confirmation from Spence’s performance before sharing. The Doc that says Crawford also knows Spence is brain dead, and there’s a conspiracy here. Doesn’t seem like he was rooting for Spence right? Not buying it.

The glassy eyed guy, looks more glassy eyed. Not really no. I’ve watched all of Spence’s fights, and have seen at least one very half a sleep look on a young Spence as the first gong went to a fight, and I’ve wondered about that look of his, why his eyes look so damn tired, and whether or not this guy takes something before fights, which could be the case since he seems to partake in just about everything.

This is what Spence looks like mid-fight, before the car crash. Eyebrows raised, eyes still halfway shut.

Spence must have been declared fit to fight,he spoke and acted as he always has as already mentioned by a few members. What Spence didn’t have was his huge size advantage what he normally has over his opponents and he was also fighting the best guy he has ever faced in his career as well as Crawford being so much faster.Spence did not have an answer for Crawford who simply picked him apart as Spence had no defence as well as zero head movement and his timing was way off plus again the fact that Spence fought exactly the same way from the first bell until he got stopped in the ninth. Spence never tried to adjust or change anything and so neither did Crawford have to change anything either he just did what he was doing as it was working and no doubt knew at some point he was going to stop Spence. Until bona fide information comes in that Spence was compromised then it’s unfair to take the credit of this win away from Crawford, then on the other hand if Spence truly was medically compromised then the question needs to be asked, what was he even doing in the ring in the first place and who allowed it ! If anything Spence maybe did look to be weight drained but that’s on him and nobody else .
