I am pretty sure he fights Canelo anyway, even if the WBO had told him his belt was to be stripped. He should have expected it really.
Probably but the selling point for the Canelo fight is Undisputed vs Undisputed. If he's no longer Undisputed than that can't be the tagline.
It's a bit bogus though. Nobody cares about the marketing at the end of the fight. It's not going to attract one less viewer just because the WBO have belatedly come to their senses. All that will be remembered is the fight. It's not like Canelo can get his hands on Charlo's belts anyway.
WBO has a rule that you cannot be champion in 2 simultaneous weight classes although still unclear if there is one for challengers (which is Charlo in this case.) https://www.wboboxing.com/wp-conten...tions-of-World-Championship-Contests21830.pdf Page 6-7, section 5, part d lists it but this is also the same sanctioning body that allows super champions which Crawford, Inoue and Usyk are, where once you become undisputed in a weight class you can go up or down a weight class and immediately challenge for a title (WBO). So just like against Jeff Horn, Crawford can also challenge Tim Tszyu ASAP after Tim is elevated ad champion.
Charlo will be undisputed when he fights Canelo, but he will be stripped after the announcement. Tim will be elevated to full WBO champion. Crawford thought he can fight Charlo and become undisputed at 154, but now the task becomes harder. He has to fight Timmy too.
Right but he would have to win the title from Canelo for that to apply. Their decision here that he'll be stripped after the Canelo fight win lose or draw is inconsistent with their own rules. Yeah but the fight that everyone wants to see now is Crawford vs Charlo for Undisputed which now can't happen. It's bad from a promotional standpoint because the main selling point of that is Undisputed vs Undisputed. Now Charlo will have to fight Canelo, then Tim to recapture Undisputed then opening the door for a Crawford Undispusted match if he beats Tim. I get that Tim is waiting to challenge Jermell, but the bigger and more challenging fights are Canelo and Crawford (at least in terms of perception with Bud now being P4P #1) rather than Tim. So they're driving a wedge between a potential Bud vs Charlo match if Charlo loses to Canelo. Of course if Charlo beats Canelo then he'll be Undisputed at 168. And in the event that he beats Canelo, he also loses the ability to call himself Double Undispusted.
Yeah numb nuts that's exactly the same scenario.. Um, Except for the fact that Fury is fighting a 40 year old MMA fighter who's never boxed a day in his life while Charlo is "ducking" Tim Kazoo in order to fight a consensus top 5-7 pound for pound fighter... Yeah usually guys who are ducking someone dont go and fight someone who is undisputed and two weight classes above. But keep believing Jermell is scared of Kazoo who is a knockout waiting to happen.
Maybe now that Kazoo has his email championship it will entice Crawford to fight him while he waits for Charlo Bring that bum over to the states and watch Crawford destroy him like he did to his countryman Jeff Horn
You mean Ran to a career high payday the same **** Timmy would've done if canelo offered him a fight.
