    Got it.

Must admit I struggle to believe it could have come up too much earlier, as the fight was only announced in early July.

If they'd known 2-3 weeks ago they would presumably have been in a position to get a better opponent than Helenius in the ring (Hunter? Parker? Ruiz? etc) to try and preserve the event as PPV. Helenius is about as barrel scrapey as you can get - with a bit longer I find it difficult to believe they wouldn't have sourced a better opponent.

Given Hearn's record I understand your scepticism though.

Also, throw in the fact Whyte/Eddie managed to buy the Rivas fails.

I would side with the fact he's telling the truth this time, but with Hearns record of speaking convincingly and lying through his teeth, I would be back slapping him just yet.

Don't forget the cracking nxt gen card. Headlined by the outstanding, raw, fresh young talent that is 31 year old (thirty one - not a typo) Yafai.

I'm not surprised, this is little more than a glorified public workout

Should be getting stick for facing a very poor Whyte never mind this glorified journeyman who fought at the weekend.

    Shocking

Yeah he’s getting loads of it for his “choice of opponent”. It’s 5 days notice, it was never going to be a “live” opponent, it was never going to be a southpaw. I just don’t get what people want? Do they want it to be cancelled and AJ go another 3/4 months inactive? He needs to fight, he needs to win, it’s not great, but it’s not on PPV anymore and people who don’t like it can get a refund. It’s trying to make the best out of a **** situation.

Yeah, so big a puncher that you couldn't put away Gerald Washington. Hmmm.......Gerald Washington is like the American David Price and lost in 8 to him. Yeah......his massive power couldn't even put away Gerald Washington!

Kownacki is shot and just lost to Joe Cusumano for crying out loud lol.

Let's also not forget the gift he got against career loser Yury Bykhautsou lol.

Helenius has been shot for over 10 years, he even got stopped by featherfisted Johann Duhaupas 7 years ago lol.

You can try and put your DAZN spin on us and try think that we're all stupid, but we know what we're watching.

Helenius has lost to both guys on the undercard, and they're both not great fighters either, but hey, you keep telling yourself what a fantastic fight this 8s and how your employees at DAZN have really managed to pull one out of the bag by getting this fantastic opponent who got KO'd by Gerald Washington of all people.

As I said, it's better than nothing, but no more than that.

Educated boxing fans know the Whyte fight and this farce are both pointless fights in which he learns absolutely nothing to aid the increasingly remote possibility of returning to win a World Title Fight against a genuine champion.

He will get a better workout hitting the bag in the gym. If he does not fight this weekend, big deal.

Just 2 weeks short of the meltdown in Saudi anniversary, he has faced zero threat Franklin, scheduled to fight zero threat Whyte and now a zero threat glorifed journeyman.

At 33 years of age, he has wasted another year since the Usyk 2 defeat, came through zero adversity, learned nothing new in the ring and wasted a year getting older.

Time to get the on with the end of his career and have a good go at beating Wilder.

Will only believe this fight happens this year when I see him being announced in the ring.

    Complete drivel.

Joshua needs to let his hands go against a live body under the lights. Whyte would have been ideal because of their rivalry and dislike. I thought that it was a real acid test for Joshua, because if he couldn’t build himself up to do it vs Whyte, he surely couldn’t do it against anyone.

This is far from an ideal opponent, sure. And it isn’t a matchup I’m excited by, for sure.

But activity better than inactivity every time and given the circumstances you’re literally criticising a boxer for choosing to box.
