Heavyweight contender Otto Wallin (25-1, 14 KOs), 32, a southpaw from Sweden, whose lone loss was a decision in which he gave heavyweight champion Tyson Fury one of his toughest fights, is in the process of finalizing a match against Murat Gassiev (30-1, 23 KOs), 29, of Russia, the former unified cruiserweight titlist, who is 4-0 since moving up to heavyweight, sources with knowledge of the deal told Fight Freaks Unite. If the fight is finalized, it is pegged for late September in Turkey on card put on by Warriors Boxing, the sources said. Wallin is 5-0 since the competitive loss to Fury in September 2019. Since losing a lopsided decision to Oleksandr Usyk to unify the cruiserweight division for the undisputed crown in July 2018, Gassiev has boxed just four times. Great fight.

Seems like one of those fights that is destined to get canceled. I'll take Gassiev by UD if it goes through.

Makes you wonder if Wallin or Gassiev were considered over Helenius. Risk reward no doubt.

This is a solid heavyweight fight and a huge step up for Gassiev.

I'm not sure how good Gassiev is at heavyweight but Wallin is one of the most overrated fighters of this era. I hope Gassiev wins and think he will depending on how his body is.

This is true, but I don't think he can be blamed for that.

Good match up, would be good to see Wallin fight someone decent again, he's done nothing since losing to Fury.

It's about time Gassiev fights somebody with a pulse in the HW division. Good fight.

I like Gassiev a lot, but my money would be on him suffering an injury in camp and the fight being pushed back. Reminds me of Beterbiev.
