McKean also stated that he will shock him and win, McKean probably worked on his strength and will be stronger than ever before.
Hrgovic CLEARLY won most of the rounds against Zhang. The first round knockdown was a push on the back of the head and shouldn't have been counted. Hrgovic scored a knockdown was not counted by the dodgy referee. He was buzzed and moved back to clear his head at one point, but he never went down. The UK commentary was very biased against Hrgovic and misled the viewers. Hrgovic would land five punches they ignored, then Zhang would land one they would mention it. McKean is less skillful than Hrgovic, so he cannot outbox him and will likely win few rounds. So he will indeed need a stoppage, but not for the reasons he says.
I’ve just been watching some of mckean and filips highlights. I’m actually giving mckean a chance here, southpaw who can bang and has a good stoppage of Jonathan rice a few years ago. My only problem is he leaves himself open badly but if he try’s to jump on filip from the start then we could see an upset here
McKean hasn't got very good power I saw him struggle to stop 45 year old Roger Izon who has been KO'd 10 times
Rice came into that fight more than 20 lbs heavier than he usually is and only arrived in Australia 2 days before the bout took place. He was gassing badly after 3-4 rounds, so it's not too surprising McKean stopped him. McKean probably could have decisioned Rice even if the latter were properly prepared, but he needed help for the stop. McKean needed 6 whole rounds to stop a 293 lb Don Haynesworth. I don't think that bodes well for his chances with Hrgovic.
Hope it is a great fight but don't think McKean has the power to keep Hrgovic off him, let alone to stop Hrgovic.
Hrgovic should pay attention to his defense because McKean is determined to knock him out, McKean may not have too much power but still he is a big man who can hit you and knock you down, I personally would like to see McKean's best performance ever so that the fight will be competitive.
Zhang's punches just looked like they were affecting Hrgovic more. Probably why commentators were making a bigger deal of them.
