Floyd Mayweather feels Errol should look to move up to 160 or 168. What weight class do you think fits Errol best?

For one thing, we don't know what he has left. If he's going to continue at world level, tho, his style of fighting won't work past 154. I think even there he'll have some challenges, but at 160 he'd get pummeled.

There's a myth that Spence is some huge WW. He's not. Huge WWs were Paul Williams & Antonio Margarito.

Yeah, agree, he is big but it's weird the way people act like he's King Kong. He's 5'10.

he the same height as Margarito and comes into the ring the same weight 160+, Spence at this point should be at 160, he should have moved up to 154 years ago if not for the car accidents slowing up his momentum he likely would have been moved up in weight

I don't think there is one. I hate to say it, but Crawford wrecked him, that is wrecked what was left after his car accident. He doesn't have good power at Welterweight, he'll have even less at 154, not enough to keep those young lions off of him.

They are not the same height. Margo is clearly taller and is listed at 5'11 on boxrec whereas Spence is at 5-9 1/2. It's not like Spence is stockily built, either.

    160

He has enough talent left to belt whoever is there.

154 and below those guys may be too fast, slick and too good counter punchers for him. Plus, Crawford is going there soon in the last few years of his own career and he'll always be Errol's boogeyman.

160lbs is not a big step. Those guys are slower and not as talented.

    That's my 2 cents

    154. His style is predicated on jabbing to close the distance where his physicality and body punching grinds down opponents. I don't like that style at 160. Light middles are generally quicker, which poses defensive challenges, but 160 is probably a bridge too far to maintain substantially the same effectiveness. I already have questions about how he'll do against the best at 154, especially in light of the beating he took.

Yep don't think he's even as big as Felix Trinidad, who was always a big welterweight, 5'11.75", ran marathons between fights to help keep his weight down and he even failed to make weight first time vs Vargas at 154 which just goes to tell you that he was always a big light middleweight that boiled himself down to 147.

Spence in reality isn't that he's some massively huge fighter at the weight, it's that he does not adhere to the lifestyle he should between fights and balloons up in weight so making 147 is always a big ordeal for him.

Spence according to Boxrec is 5"9.5, Margarito is 5'11".

But yeah it's likely that both rehydrate north of 160lbs. But Spence has admitted to ballooning up to 190lbs between fights before. That's his real problem, he's big for the weight, not huge, but he makes it so much harder for himself because he allows himself to gain so much weight, not on the level of someone like Hatton used too, but still, dropping so much weight in camp because of his lack of professionalism between fights has probably cost him to some degree.

So Margarito might come down from 165-175 before camp but Spence is coming down from 190 but both might hydrate back up to a similar weight. So it's not that he's too big for 147, it's his lack of professionalism that's hindered his ability to compete.

I thought he was listed at 5’10 and I don’t think it has to do with professionalism, everybody is built differently draining yourself down will eventually take a toll on you

It's well known he likes a drink too much hence his drink driving car crash and it's not normal for a fighter to go from 147 to 190 between fights. That's 43lbs! That's crazy, that's what Canelo walks around at.

But yes draining yourself down from too high a weight will eventually take a toll and he's been doing it for a long time. So what Spence did in preparation for Crawford was no different to what he had done many times before coming down from a much higher weight. Maybe it eventually caught up with him or maybe he was his usual self but this time in with by far the best fighter he's ever faced.
