This fight is absolutely juicy. These two countering each other in the fire-zone would be something else to see.

It would be a fascinating fight. Juan Manuel Marquez usually does well against southpaws and I can see him outboxing Tank down the stretch. Tank probably drops JMM early but won't be able to stop him due to JMM's tenacity and toughness.

JMM clearly. Not sure if Tank survives as he's never fought anyone remotely dangerous but this would be domination that even paid off judges could reverse.

    Draw.

Marquez wins more rounds but Tank brings it back with knockdowns. Similar to Pac Marquez 1. Marquez practically lived on the canvas for someone who is an elite boxer.

Man that's a great hypothetical matchup. 2 counterpunchers, JMM with the better technique. TANK with the bigger power, I'd slightly favor JMM to win a Decision if he can make it to the final bell.

Ive always found that so interesting. He went toe to toe with pacquiao yet floyd mayweather beat him 12-0. Meanwhile Pacquiao in 2009 most certainly would have won anywhere from 4-8 rounds had he fought Mayweather at the time.

I'm not even convinced Tank would have beaten Casamayor or Baby Bull.

Marquez by a decision but there is no reason he wouldn't touch the canvas once or twice.

JMM too technical; he sees the counters and counters the counters hahaha but I don't think he stops him. Decision win for Marquez.

Yeah he was the definition of a pure counter puncher and as you say struggled to take the lead at times, which is why he probably never garnered the usual kind of fan support early in his career from the Mexican fans his contemporaries Barrera and Morales attained.

But as he and your example of Hearns showed you don't have to be a complete fighter to be an ATG as long as you are exceptional enough in other areas.

Going to go against the grain here. JMM had alot of problems with Norwood who was a slick southpaw who countered alot and I believe he dropped JMM.
Tank can box but as he has shown he carries knockout power. Now throw in the fact that Tank also has fast hands as well.
I think it would be close but Tank would score a knockdown and that would be the difference.

Why is everyone talking only talking about tanks power in this match up, Marquez had 56 wins with 40 by way of ko.
