I've seen Gassiev spar tall guys, with big reach and he is very clumsy.

If he has not change something, Wallin is going to have a good fight with him.

He only beat small cruiser southpaw mover Lebedev by tight margins too (Boxrec have it 114-114, though Gassiev's rounds were more dominant).

It would be a very interesting fight though: Gassiev might have the best left hook at heavyweight, he's a vicious body puncher and faster than the likes of Granat and Breazeale. Would be the tastiest heavyweight fight on paper since Joyce-Zhang.

Yeah, let me be clear I still think he can win it, but it is hard to understand wjy he goes into a tough style match-up.

Wallin could and should lose this because people are overestimating him at the expense of one good round against Fury who controlled the entire fight without any problems.

How many weeks before the fight does Gassiev get injured and pull out this time? I like 2 weeks for this one.

Gassiev should just retire if he cannot physically get through a training camp.

If it does happen then I fancy Gassiev to knock Wallin out.

    Right.

Gassiev has been a heavyweight for five years and he's only fought four times. He's not ranked at all by the WBC and the WBO. He's ranked #11 by both the WBA and IBF, whose belts he held at cruiserweight. So even though they've given him a favorable ranking as a former champ, they can't even swallow putting him in the top 10 at this point.

And Wallin had a great fight with Fury and then fell off the earth. He's looked awful as of late, maybe because he couldn't get motivated for his awful opponents. Who knows.

Not quite two guys lighting the world on fire.

Sure, Whyte should've fought Wallin. But he didn't. Gassiev could've gotten on the fast track a year or so ago when he was offered an IBF eliminator with Hrgovic, but he turned it down. Zhang ended up taking it. Even though he lost that one, Zhang has since rocketed past both Gassiev and Wallin.

They seem like two guys who don't go out of their way to make opportunities for themselves. Fights are offered and they turn them down. Fights are pulled out from under them (Wallin with Whyte) and they mope about it for years.

Like Helenius showed this week, sometimes just swallowing your pride, taking low-level fights and remaining in condition puts you in position to get a big opportunity. And if you get one, TAKE IT.

It feels inevitable that one or both of them will blow this opportunity, somehow. But it's time for both of them to either **** or get off the pot, as the saying goes.

If either of those two amount to anything at heavyweight, I'll be pleasantly surprised.

You're right that Usyk took Gassiev to school. No doubt about it.

    But...

Gassiev landed a huge right hand on Usyk with just a few seconds left in the 4th round. If he hand landed that shot about 15 seconds earlier...he might have stopped Usyk. Coulda/woulda/shoulda I guess.

You have a vested interest in hating on Gassiev because you made the idiot thread in which you said he and Usyk weren't that good. You doubled down by saying that Uysk was just fighting AJ for a cash-out. Basically, you are an idiot.

For both ... a way to become relevant in a single fight. It's almost out of necessity because spinning their wheels they're going nowhere, and neither have a lot of time on their side. Wallin has a bit.

The 3 judges didn't see it that way. Nor did Fury's busted right eye that required about 50 stitches.

Nice fight, hope they get it official. Also great for the hype that is Gassiev. Wallin is pretty good all around, and has good legs, plus he's big and established at HW. If Gassiev beats him or stops him he's in the mix.
I think Wallin outboxes him though.

Good matchup, hope we see this one.

Both of them really need a push up the contention ladder, so it makes sense.

He hates Gassiev and Usyk with a strong passion. His views on both are always completely nonsensical.
