Tyson Fury is holding the WBC belt hostage.

He's been avoiding fights with contenders for more than a year. Instead he fought faded gatekeeper Chisora last December, who he had already beaten twice, and now he's fighting a man who has never had a pro boxing fight before.

Should the WBC strip Fury and have two other people fight for the vacant title?

    OF course not.

Who is being held up, exactly?

Deontay Wilder is the #1 contender. He is only interested in fighting Joshua next.

Andy Ruiz is the #2 contender. He just wants to fight Wilder or Joshua (again).

Anthony Joshua is the #3 contender. He is fighting Saturday and is scheduled to fight Wilder after that.

Sounds like the top 3 WBC contenders aren't in any rush to get in the ring with Fury and would rather fight each other next.

If one of those top contenders was complaining, that would be another thing. But the WBC doesn't care if another organization's champ is the one complaining.

All the top heavyweights acknowledge Fury is the main guy. No one is insisting they are the top dog or they deserve more than him.

If you want to see title fights, get mad at Usyk. He's got three of the belts, only fights once a year and actually HAS mandatories.

Usyk should be fighting THREE times every year.

We should know by now when Usyk-Hrgovic will take place ... and have a rough idea when Usyk-Zhang is happening.

Those guys should all have dates and shots with the Usyk-Dubois winner penciled in right now.

    Is Dubious a contendor?

Zhang is the only contender and he's 100 years old,has a good chance to sparko Usyk and loses to Fury on points

Fury & Usyk are fighting in Dec or early next year in Ridyahahah.

Everyone should be stipped if not fighting for more than 12 months.

Fighting only once per year, as usual.

If Dubois lands a lucky punch on Usyk (there's no rematch clause, mind you) ...

How quickly will Frank Warren make Tyson Fury-Daniel Dubois for ALL the belts?

Warren would be tripping all over himself trying to get that one on the books as quickly as possible.

When Usyk fights his WBA mando this month, it'll be the first time a WBA mandatory defense has been made since Joshua-Povetkin in 2018 (five years).

The IBF mandatory defense hasn't been fulfilled since Joshua-Pulev in 2020 (three years). It'll be 2024 (four years) by the time they get around to it.

If you're going to collect belts, you better start fighting more than once a year.

Ruiz was offered a title shot with Fury and it was supposed to take place in July. But Andy Ruiz demanded $20 million as the challenger. (Which Ruiz acknowledged he did.) And when they said they can't pay him that much, that was it. Ruiz has no fights lined up with anyone. Shows how badly he wants it.

Joshua and Hearn have been eyeballing this Wilder in Saudi fight since the Spring.

And, sorry, but you aren't going to strip a dominant champ because the #8 contender feels he should get a shot.

What, are they going to strip Fury and make Martin Bakole-Frank Sanchez for the vacant WBC title? Give me a break. They aren't going to do that any more than the IBF is going to strip Usyk because Agit Kabayel and Otto Wallin want title shots right now.

The top rated WBC contenders aren't in a rush. The #2 WBC contender turned down a title shot because he wanted $20 million.

Those are the guys who are in line, not Bakole at #8.

Wbc is corrupt. They prefer to enable Fury's ducking.

Who are we kidding? Usyk hasn't fought three times in a year since 2015.o_O:duh

Usyk has fought once a year as a heavyweight. He fought once in 2019. Once in 2020. Once in 2021. Once in 2022. He's going to fight once this year. And, shockingly, he'll probably fight once in 2024, too.

Usyk won his titles two years ago. He has three belts. There are a lot of contenders to fight. He's fought once as champ.

Fury has nothing to do with who Usyk defends his belts against. Fury doesn't control Usyk or any of the orgs Usyk represents.

The issue with Fury isn't internal to the WBC; it's that he botched the undisputed fight. This is why having unified champs isn't necessarily a good thing; one or two guys can hold up the entire division. It's a tradeoff.

Fury is no longer invincible and he is aware of that and has turned to easy money, continuing to trick his loyal fans into paying for crappy fights.
