Jess Willard vs. James Toney, 20 rounds

Could Jess win?

 

If Willard can turn it into the sort of shoving, mauling fight he liked I think he has a chance to wear Toney out down the line. If it's a boxing match Toney clowns him. Jess' best hope is to make the fight long and exploit Toney's infamously bad conditioning. He has a chance, since Toney didn't hit that hard at HW and Willard was very durable. I'd prefer 45 rounds for Jess to be honest It might take him longer than 20

 

If Tom McMahon could outpoint Jess, then a cakewalk for Toney.

 

Hames Toney is too techncial and wins on points.

 

20 rounds dont make a difference if toney is in any shape whatsoever. Toney didnt fade down the stretch due to being incredibly relaxed and comfortable in the ring.

If anything it raises the likelyhood of toney wearing willard down by stoppage

 

I’d go with Toney

 

I'm of course assuming that Willard gets to impose his game, such as it is. If he tried to outbox Toney he'd look frightful by the end of it.

 

Willard, too big and strong over that distance .
