All but locked in for January thirteenth in Saudi Arabia on DAZN. Barring injury or illness to either party, or somebody upsetting the apple cart, this is pretty much on.

Each man is currently coming off a KO victory over Robert Helenius (last October for Wilder, half an hour ago for Joshua) but they may each squeeze in some tuneups before they meet.

Neither holds any hardware but given their mutual high rankings this would likely be an eliminator of some kind. Wilder is WBC & WBA #1, IBF #3 and WBO #4. Joshua is WBC & WBA #3, IBF #4 and WBO #2.

Joshua set his KO perfectly tonight. He listened to his trainer’s advice and had a great jab. Joshua was outjabbing the guy with a longer reach and height. He will be a lot more confident now.

I still think Wilder will KO Joshua but let’s see it happen. It will be a WAR.

Wilder walks in wearing a steel suit that weights over 500kg.

AJ has a panic attack and feints before Wilder can KO him.

Fury & Usyk wrestle at ringside which steals the show

It's a matter of whose right hand lands first, really. Wilder has more power but the weaker chin (and Joshua has a functional left hook as well).

    Tommorow , Wilder imo.

After another tune up that could change

What if neither fights again until 1/13?

That would be 15 months out for DW.

    Common opponents:

Jason Gavern - Lost to Wilder via RTD 4. Lost to Joshua via KO 3.
Dominic Breazeale - Lost to Wilder via KO 1. Lost to Joshua via TKO 7.
Eric Molina - Lost to Wilder via KO 9. Lost to Joshua via TKO 3.
Robert Helenius - Losto to Wilder via KO 1. Lost to Joshua via KO 7.

Just four common opponents between Joshua and Deontay, although it may change if Wilder goes on to face Andy Ruiz next.

Coincidentally the Breazeale and Helenius results are identical.

Joshua knocked out the paper chin Helenius, who most of the top 20 would have crushed, this victory does not confirm anything, Wilder certainly has no intention of testing Joshua in the first round and will knock him out immediately.

Helenius was honestly the second or third best looking HW on the card. Better than Hrgović, McKean, Chisora, Washington, and Armstrong. Maybe level with Fisher.

That was no lay-down performance from him, especially on short notice.

Yeah that makes it interesting. AJ is fighting smarter and tentative. But is that a good idea vs Wilder? Fury went at him and it worked out well. If AJ is over cautious it's lights out. AJ does have some strange ideas. If he pushes the pace AJ. If he's over cautious Wilder.

I’ve liked AJ in this match up for years but not anymore. I didn’t finish the Helenius fight today cause of a bad stream, but I don’t think AJ can afford to be gun shy at all against Wilder. If AJ somehow finds his killer instinct again he has a chance, but Wilder stops him more than likely.
