I said it earlier, Valdez needs to fight smarter. Getting into a firefight with a buzzsaw will never work, especially with that reach advantage Navarette has.

I actually got sleepy at some parts which is weird considering how action packed this is. Most of it is because the way navarette punches looks sloppy and slow

Didn't get a chance to watch the fight but it looks like Valdez got sparked.

This was one of those fights where Valdez was competitive in almost every round. He just wasn't good enough in most of them.

Poor game plan Oscar. Navarette fought like a God though.

Valdez had a great 6th round getting himself back in the fight, then he went back to what he did the first 4 rounds. Dumb. Took too long to throw, stayed in the pocket ( and not throwing ) and when he wasn't in the pocket he was just waiting. He had to force the fight and keep at Nav, and not just throw that same stupid left hook which wasn't working. No pressure, no right hand, not enough body assault. Poor tactics from a guy who is way smarter.

Nav was in much better physcial condition than when he fought Liam Wilson. Obviously. Not that you should overlook anybody but you certainly better be in 100 for Oscar Valdes.

And on Liam Wilson. I feel extra bad for him now because seeing what Nav did to Valdez, he should count his lucky blessings the ref gave that audacious count.

Well said. Disappointed with Tessitore actually. He's esculated now to 90 percent of other commentators with their overdoing it bull****.

He should lay off the espresso's.

Scores were perfect. I had it 10-2, was totally domination rather than a close competitive fight ESPN were laughably trying to push. They also must want Oscar killed by saying it looked like the first fight of a trilogy. It was a total beat down and likely a career altering one.

As someone that has listened to him for over 20 years, Tessitore has always sucked. It was just that before his suckage was drowned out by Teddy Atlas' megalithic suckage.

I gotta say I like Navarette. At times reckless, lethargic. Always off balance and inaccurate but he just keeps coming. And he is one tough SOB. He gets caught but almost never squarely. He is very smart in how he rolls with the punches, both with his body and chin. Even with a damaged right hand he was able to beat down Valdez. If he had two good hands for the duration I think he would have stopped Valdez. If you watched Valdez walk back to his corner in the latter rounds you could see he was unsteady. Yes, Navarette could be sparked against a sharp, powerful young gun but you have to admire his work. The guy is a winner. He is just smart all the way around. Even his branding. Vaquero is an image everyone loves.

Just got done watching it now, decent fight but not extremely entertaining like Bradley & Tessidouche we're trying so hard to convince you into believing it was,

I said it before about Vegas having the wrong guy as a favorite, didn't want either guy to lose as they are both humble,

Oscar gave his best & came back at times while Manny was doing great in the beginning but looked a bit tired or wanted to preserve his energy for the latter round & seemed to hurt his right hand which made him slow up a bit also,

I've noticed Valdez easily cuts up in almost all his fights it just might be the way his skin is inherently,

Nav can look great in spots but his footwork needs more work, the way he drags his legs while being slow is his deficiency, happy for him.

You noticed that too, I said the same thing, in general him & Kriegal have always been bad,

The try to sound so smart over the audience while trying to act like their giving you an education on the sport but in reality speak & sound like amateurs you can add Ooo Ahh Bradley to that same mix, pathetic.

Finally just finished watching it. Good entertaining fight. Navarrete pretty much got the better of Valdez in most of the exchanges and won 8-4. And he barely got a mark on his face. He’s such an awkward fighter but very effective and relentless. I think he showed pretty good defense too. Valdez kept loading up on his punches and relied on just one hard counter shot while allowing Navarette to put his foot on the gas. Good performance from Navarrete overall.

Now that Shakur Stevenson is not getting any big fights, it may be possible he fights Navarrete later this year. That would be a great fight.
Precision vs Pressure. Navarrete does some awkward things that look like he can be caught but he's good at blocking with his gloves, rolling, stepping slightly back and not getting caught full on. Some say Shakur is feather fisted so this looks like a 12 round fight. Great clash of styles.
