People aren't really hanging their hat on Jared Anderson as the next great heavyweight, are they?

Jared Anderson - so far not very impressive. Yeah he will probably get a title shot at some stage, he is one of the better up and coming contenders. To say he is the next great heavyweight is just hype, and probably because he's American. He is young and still developing but so far looks quite average.
Jalolov is a bit older but is much more promising as regards to challenging the belt holders and breaking into that top 4 of Joshua, Wilder, Fury, Usyk.

 

One sub par performance and people should just write him off? Plenty of boxers his age have had sub par performances and have come back better and stronger.

 

Agree, especially the latter part. I also think there's going to be some sort of global crisis sooner or later. It might be economically devastating, with or without expanding wars. God help us if the US elites underestimate Russia or China and their likely allies. Or threatens them too hard where they think they have push back harder. If the US$ ever loses its dominant status, our elites could miscalculate or overreact. In any case, all hell might break loose -- very much so for the masses.
In case of a nuclear war the elites have their luxury underground complexes. What do we have?

Feminization of men, "toxic" masculinity, multiple gender/sexual orientation identities, etc. Most of that nonsense (my view) is in the US/West. It doesn't fly in Eastern Europe, Asia, or Africa. Not much in Mexico & southward either. Look from where some of the top fighters have originated this past generation. Among HWs K bros, Pov, Usyk, and many others that won a belt or were solid contenders. US fighters still have the advantage of coming from a nation still w/ much wealth (on paper) and from a place that historically dominated boxing. But that's fading. Among the glamour division the US has legit 1 in the top 5 and 2 in the 10 (DW & Ruiz). Compare that to decades ago.
Some posters here have a hard time accepting the change of status and resort to trashing the current boxing scene - especially the HWs. I do wish they'd fight a bit more often.

 

When Fury, Usyk, Wilder and AJ are gone the heavyweight division is up for grabs. There is no standout dominant prospect I actually think the standard of heavyweight will be even lower in the next few years than it is right now. So I wouldn't count Anderson out maybe one day picking up one of the 4 belts.

 

I don't think Jared Anderson is a likely title holder.

Charles Martin obviously landed harder shots on Anderson than Anderson landed on Martin. Martin's no featherfist, but it demonstrates that Anderson's vaunted power is an illusion.

It's pretty clear that Top Rank doesn't have much faith in him either. Witness the downgrading of Anderson's upcoming opponent from Kossobuitsky to Rudenko. While Rudenko isn't an easy guy to stop - he's not any sort of contender at this stage of his career.

 

Makhmudov, Jalolov, Kossobuitsky, and Gassiev are all better prospects than Anderson. And it isn't even close. The only advantage Anderson holds over any member of that group is youth.

I'm not even convinced that Anderson is a better prospect than Fabio Wardley, Lenier Pero, Ivan Dychko, or Frazier Clarke.

 

If Jared improves he can become very poor man’s Joshua. That’s his ceiling imo.

When he said that to Roy is when I figured he's not 100% in the game, and it's going to cost him long term. It's like he didn't choose boxing and it just riding it out.

 

Reminds me of Jeff Lacy. He’ll meet his Calzaghe who’ll ruin his career.

 

The first boxer he faced with any real power raised questions about his punch resistance, defense, and power.

You'll also notice he wasn't willing to throw anywhere near the volume at Martin that he was at his earlier opponents. He was afraid of getting countere

 

Is there any other good HW prospects coming up in the USA?

 

He has natural talent but doesn't have the skill set to make the most of it. His ceiling will depend on his ability to learn and develop as a fighter.

I suspect he'll end up at a similar level to a Joseph Parker or Andy Ruiz Jr. He'll pick up a title but lose it once he steps up and fights another top guy.

 

I don't know why people like to drag Jared Anderson around here. He's a good, young heavyweight.

The young heavyweights at the moment are folks like Jared Anderson, Daniel Dubois, Lenier Pero, Efe Ajagba, Bakhodir Jalalov, Richard Torrez, Justis Huni, Fabio Wardley and David Adeleye.

Anderson isn't any worse than any of them. They all have faults. Every heavyweight does.
