Yeah, D&L and Dynamic have done a previous rugby fight card in Townsville with the most recent being back in 2021. And I thought I'd read that Paulo Aokuso had signed a one-fight deal with Stan Wondering if he will also be making an appearance on this card
The guys Paulo Aokuso should be fighting are Conor Wallace & Jerome Pampellone. Beat them & you're the best from this part of the world & ready for higher honours. Even someone like Leti Leti would be a good opponent. He gave Conor Wallace massive problems. If Aokuso schooled him, it would make a statement. If Dean Lonergan has a local platform to promote fights on, it will be interesting to see who he signs up. Aokuso's beef with No Limit appears to have been he wasn't getting the star treatment (in comparison with other fighters on the roster). Lonergan could certainly build him into something.
Agreed, would love to see Paulo v Connor Wallace. Maybe they could do Paulo v Jerome P as he was appeared on D&L events over in NZ.
Is Imam Khataev going to continue his career in Oz? Kid is a beast and I think he beats everyone at 175 here. Even Paulo.
He does. Another new addition to the local Junior Middleweight ranks is Sergei Vorobev who until recently was the Russian Junior Middleweight champ. He's a handy addition to the local ranks as well. Should provide decent sparring for Timmy & Nikita also.
Looking at Paulo Aokuso's amateur record, he went 2 and 2 with Clay Waterman and claimed the Olympics spot ahead of him. He fought Jerome Pampellone once & lost. Not sure if he's going to be willing to take the risk of fighting guys like that but if he wants to be world champ in short order, that's who he should be facing. Prove you're the best from here (which won't be easy given the quality of fighters just mentioned plus Conor Wallace), then hit the road. Makes sense to me.
He was a beast. That South Korean opponent he fought drew a short straw. I wonder if they found his missing tooth?
Makes sense to me too I remember reading that his next fight was going to be an IBO world title eliminator, but that was just after the Quinlan fight, and when he was still with No Limit.
Fox Sports are reporting Tevita Pangai Jr has thrown in his Bulldogs contract to pursue boxing full time....
Sounds like a salary cap rort to me. The Bulldogs need to move some talent off the books in order to buy new talent. The blokes they've got aren't delivering wins. If TPJ went to another club, presumably the Bulldogs would have to foot the bill for some of next year's wages & it would be counted in their salary cap. If he departs for boxing, then returns to the NRL, the Bulldogs may get off scot-free.
Yep same thing Valentine Holmes did when he left the Sharks to supposedly try out for the NFL only to sign with the Cowboys a year later
wonder if saab could make the nfl. my guess is there's about a thousand saabs in the u.s but with nfl experience. who puts the ideas into a guy like valentine holmes that he's 9 figure salary nfl ready?
