Who would you say hit harder, Tyson or Foreman? Tyson had speed that amplified his power, while Foreman's power was down to sheer size and strength. I'd compare them like this: Tyson was like a bullet train, while Foreman was like one of those old steam locomotives.
What is this sheer size of Foreman? He was 6'3 220lbs in his 1970s prime, the same as Usyk today. He wasn't much bigger than Ali.
There two different types of punchers , Tyson used his speed, movement and combinations where as Foreman was a slow methodical puncher and very heavy handed, with some of his KO punches seemingly not travelling far at all .
He habitually dehydrated due to Saddler's foolishness down to this weight. Usyk worked his way up to this size. Foreman was naturally bigger & stronger, bigger bone structure too. Foreman certainly hit harder than Tyson. Who was better at combinations & speed.
Harder puncher doesn't mean better puncher. Foreman no doubt had heavier hands, he generated more sheer force behind his punches but he was slow, opponents could see his punches coming, brace for them or roll with them, but they still landed with tremendous force. He could hurt you without even landing that cleanly because of that power. Tyson I think had less sheer power but his punches were faster so were harder to see coming and it's the shot that you don't see that knocks you out. That along with his combinations for me made him the superior puncher even though he didn't have as much raw power as Foreman. Foreman could probably KO some guys Tyson couldn't and vice versa for Tyson because of their different styles. That's the beauty of boxing, doesn't matter if your some slow towering giant or a shorter more compact fighter who's fast, there is no typical physical standard for a great fighter in boxing they come in all shapes and sizes with a vast difference in attributes, it's simply about making a best of your physical gifts, that's what makes a fighter great finding the style that suits you best.
Sheer one punch power I think Foreman by a bit, but obviously with Tyson they were coming in bunches and much faster.
