One solid right hand from Wilder could put AJ to sleep, but likewise even if it does not, i see such a punch landing as making Joshua very tentative.

However i would be very happy if such a punch landing on his whiskers made Joshua bite down on his gumshield and decide to throw his own bombs in return.

Had the fight happened during the first half of 2023, I would have favored Wilder. But with age & a huge layoff plus Joshua staying active, I'm not so sure.

I think the Helenius version of Wilder probably wins, but we still don't know Deontay's punch resistance following the Fury beatings. He had a pretty good chin despite the chicken legs, but who knows now.

Yes, Helenius, for all his faults, is much more skilled and savvy than The Dosser. Granted that's not saying much because the skill level of that uncoordinated can-crushing one-trick pony buffoon is abysmal. The Dosser has been outboxed numerous times by fighters who can't box. AJ will jab his face off and he can KO him with either hand and he can actually throw combinations as opposed to windmilling like a deranged lunatic like The Dosser.

Sure, The Dosser might catch him with that big right and take him out but I firmly believe there's just as much chance of the reverse happening.

Wilder by KO. I just can't pick AJ anymore. I used to in his prime.

Don't really care. They're both shyte.

Wilder is Mr Smoke and Mirrors inactive for the whole of 2023 and will be ancient in boxing terms by the time the fight potentially comes off.

Joshua doesn't know WTF he is anymore and can't/won't pull the trigger like he used to.

So it's a pickem between an old useless beaten up dosser and a stiff overthinking halfway house that appears to have lost all his ambition. What a mouth-watering prospect.

I will go with Anthony Joshua by twelve round decision.

I see by the poll that my pick is in the extreme minority, but that is what I am going with. If I am wrong, it will not be the first time.

Well before it wasn't really a pick em, but there was a lot more on the line(both being undefeated and sharing control of the HW division) Most of us picked Joshua with little cause to doubt - only now with Joshua being psychologically damaged it's finally seen as a competitive fight. Still a can't miss HW matchup despite it being more a crossroads fight than anything else.

I favor Wilder by knockout but I am not going to rule out an AJ win completely. Wilder is 37 years old has been inactive and took two savage beatings from Fury so who knows how much he has left. The Helenius fight didn't tell us much as Wilder sparked him quickly I guess the main thing it told us is that he will always have the devastating power something AJ will be well aware of.

Both mentally fragile. Both Glass Jawed. Only question here is what breaks first - their Fragile Glass Jaws or break Mentally.
The fighter who can stay composed and not get flustered will win by KO in first 6 rounds.

Poor Dan went from a high paying job with an expense account at ESPN to working from his basement.
