Hello guys got a weird one here.

I’m 24, picked boxing up to loose weight when I was 22. Love it. (Was 110kg, now 85kg)

Thing is I’m a Lefty, when I started I never mentioned it and coach never asked so I just trained orthodox

Spoke to pro guy at gym he said I should really start again in southpaw. Not mentioned to coach yet.

Opinions ? Should I change? Or should I ask coach ? I’m comfy in orthodox, and my right hand is decent now compared to when I started.

I googled it after realising and noticed Tyson, De La Hoya and few other greats were lefties fighting in orthodox - so just kept at it.

Would love to hear opinions .
    Cheers

IMO every fighter should learn how to box both in SP and orthodox. You see many fighters switch. Not everyone can do this obviously, but it's not going to hurt you to box in south paw. But you have to know how to balance both.

:deal: Everyone should at least see how comfortable it feels. Some take very naturally to it, many don't.

lefty one day and conventional the other. You dont have to switch in sparring until it feels right but youll create a stronger foundation because of balance in muscle.

If you have tried orthodox and feel better you eventually can change the stance, I mean - you have to find a valid reason for doing it. If it is because the trainer has no idea how to train lefties, which eventually made you feel uncomfortable in that stance - this is a totally wrong reason.
