Barry Hearn basically did. He's long said he wasn't keen on getting back into boxing (far less dealing with the likes of Audley Harrison).
That makes me laugh ref Harrison, especially when he was his sons first signing. He probably only said that because like Warren and Maloney he had the hump that Harrison cut them out when he turned pro signing with the BBC for, what was big money at the time.
Yeah, that's probably right. But I guess you can see the promoter's point of view if they're not incentivised to get out and sell. The laugh is that Harrison's wish to own his shows is pretty much how Matchroom and PBC work with their biggest names now... And without Harrison-Haye (and Haye silencing the boos with his KO win) there might not be a Matchroom Boxing today.
Please. Let's look at the facts. Boxxer pulled out of purse bids on the day twice. That alone makes them a joke of a promotion. If matchroom are lying I look forward to Shalom disputing it but I expect he won't as all it will do is then force matchroom hand to reveal the details. Frank Smith said he isn’t a huge fan of boxing. So am I Frank Smith? The thing is I contribute more interesting and reasonable posts than all the Matchroom haters that post here. Legally I don’t think Hearn would want to do that. Shalom’s response tells you everything about it. No you couldn’t do that job. Frank Smith is the lead negotiator for fights over Hearn now. Don’t get the hate for him. Before people said he isn’t charismatic and is boring. Now they are complaining that he’s more outspoken. Frank Smith can’t win! Don’t spend too much time talking to these people. They won’t ever accept they are wrong. Read what I said above. Frank Smith does a lot more than people realise.
