This really should be a Friday night show. Good step-up for Dubois. Riley's opponent has zero stoppages and has only fought journeymen, but it is for the English Title. I like the Simpson vs Brown fight. However, this will clash with Matchroom's card in London or Manchester headlined by Jai Opetaia vs Jordan Thompson for the IBF World Cruiserweight Title and also featuring Ellie Scotney defending her World Title. Zelfa Barrett could also feature on that card, just waiting for the announcement. Much more interested in the Matchroom show to be honest, this should have been on a Friday night.

Remember that I did say Riley would fight Quarless for the English Title for people who question the validity of some of my statements.

Anyone know what is happening with Riakporhe? He was supposed to fight Opetaia on this date and apparently has a World Title shot awaiting him. Anyone heard anything?

I agree it's far better for fight nights to avoid clashing, it only splits viewership. Some of the clashes have also seemed needless at times this year when other weekends have been eventless.

If Boxxer have announced first then why don't Matchroom just choose a different date (your going to accuse me of hating here but facts are facts), clashing damages both promoters shows, but one has a uk membership of millions and the other a much smaller percentage. Surely this clash hurts DAZN a lot more, especially as Boxxers show will follow an afternoon of soccer Saturday/ various sports all which will have adverts for the evenings fights. If it was going up against AJ then it would lose out, but its 2 lower level shows, there is only one place where the bulk of people will be tuning in

I'd argue that most people who will watch the Boxxer show would be people who wouldn't watch the DAZN show if it were on a different date so it wouldn't make a huge difference. It's annoying I agree and Matchroom would have been better off not clashing, but I they don't have a lot of dates available with shows almost every week and DAZN probably wanted a UK show in September as they already have one Mexican and one American one just from Matchroom.

I don't really blame either promoter as they both probably pencilled in this date and didn't want to clash. Not sure what the Opetaia vs Thompson undercard will be like but I might watch the Boxxer show and then switch for the main event.

I don't agree with you calling the Matchroom show a "lower level show". Maybe in terms of interest from viewers, but it's headlined by the best cruiserweight in the world defending his world title against an unbeaten Brit. I'm here for it.

I think most people on here and in the country would rather watch Opetaia vs Thompson rather than Caroline Dubois. Anyhow clashes aren't great for anyone like you said.

The women’s boxing really spoiling some good cards lately should be on early or separate but Viddal Riley is coming along nicely I take him seriously as a contender.

Given Sky still heavily promotes Savannah Marshall (until very recently it was her face along with Lewis Hamilton and a footballer I forget as the sports banner on Sky Q) it wouldn't be surprising if they demanded the Dubois fight be the highlight.

Then again if Adam Smith's old mantra of the top fights at 10pm on Saturday is still true, maybe Dubois will be on at 11 and Riley the prime time slot :)

Does this mean we're not getting the trilogy between Viddal and Taj?

Do Matchroom just wait for Boxxer to announce a show and then just go the same date?

You know it's not as simple as that. When drawing up the schedule months ago Matchroom would have pencilled in September 30 like Boxxer would have. The unfortunate thing is that they will both clash. Broadcasters probably wanted that date and for DAZN they don't have many other free dates - they needed a UK show in September. If anything, Boxxer should have gone on Friday, but anyway it's not the end of the world. Don't forget all 3 major broadcasters clashed on May 27.

Not sure what makes you think Matchroom purposefully clash with all of Boxxer's dates. We have known for ages that Matchroom will go on September 30. I'm sure Boxxer planned to go on that date several weeks ago as well.

Why should Boxxer have gone on Friday? Quality of the show or the potential clash, or some other reason?

Maybe Friday night doesn't suit Sky and frankly they're hardly competing with DAZN for an audience.

Show quality. Their last show at York Hall was also on Friday when Fraser Clarke fought Mariusz Wach.

Bit strange that on quite a few occasions they’ve announced the same date after Boxxer have announced theirs but who knows. It’s no good for anyone though. Losing interest in British boxing these days tbh, rarely any fights that get me buzzing anymore. Can only think of Wood v Warrington for the rest of the year that has some intrigue.

I wonder if Matchroom had the opportunity to stay with Sky in the UK whilst having DAZN show their fights for overseas viewers.

I know I it’s the York Hall but there were better fights on Friday Nights in Sports Centres pre Matchroom TV deal. This is utter junk 2 years into the Boxxer tv deal. Can’t Sky and Shalom bring the odd world champion over to defend his title. Never happens anymore unless they are tied to Matchroom or promoted by Arum.

Fear not, they're bringing Mikaela Mayer over for the Smith-Eubank show!

(Not going to be a hypocrite here, I did once post that Mayer could be a future star in boxing if she kept going at the same pace, given her looks, being a yank etc - sadly she's proving as annoying as a lot of other boxers, male or female, after a defeat)
