    Boss fight, this...circa 2008-2014ish. :dunno

I didn't realize both of these Scottish forty-something mad lads were still at it. Shockingly enough, neither has ever stopped banging on for more than a couple of years since their respective debuts in 2001 and 1999.

This is twelve rounds at welterweight, for some inscrutable reason.

They've shared the bill many a time (Burns vs. Ernie Smith and Limond vs. Asen Vasilev in 2002; Burns vs. Haider Ali and Limond vs. Kevin O'Hara in 2005; Burns vs. Wladimir Borov and Limond vs. Joshua Allotey in 2006; Burns vs. Dejan Zlatičanin and Limond vs. Curtis Woodhouse in 2014; Burns vs. Michele di Rocco and Limond vs. Tyrone Nurse in 2016) and have been friends & training partners for about two decades.

Both the Coatbridgian and Glaswegian have in the neighborhood of 50 matches in their careers. As you'd expect being similarly-sized countrymen who always kept a steady pace of activity, they have several common opponents:

    • Anthony Crolla - beat Limond by UD in 2011 and Burna via the same in 2017, both at lightweight.
    • Kevin O'Hara - lost via referee's decision to Limond in 2005 and by UD to Burns in 2009, both at super feather.
    • Frederic Bonifai - dropped in the 1st but survived to lose a shutout ref's decision to Limond in 2004, and lost via TKO5 against Burns in 2007 (both scheduled for super feather but in his bout Limond came 4lbs over)
    • Alex Arthur - stopped Limon in 8 rounds in 2003, and beat Burns by UD in 2006, both at super feather
    • Billy Smith - lost to Limond twice on points in 2000, and to Burns twice on points in 2007 & 2008.
I just hope they have fun and nobody gets hurt.

Very rare that you get two boxers with 5 common opponents that have the same results against all of them.

Burns should take this one quite comfortably. Limond hasn’t been on weight for a long time up until this camp. Both nice lads hope they earn a few quid.

you know a fighter (Limond) is old when their kid has been a pro for 18 months...
Ricky has lived the life more than anyone and won world titles.
Limond got beat by Tyrone Nurse....

Just had a look. The cheapest ticket for this is £56. Are they having a laugh. Who on earth would want to pay that much for the worst possible ticket for this fight?!

This is mad. Fair play to them I'm sure it will sell a few tickets up in Scotland. Get some local scraps on the undercard and could be a good night.
