The trilogy is inevitable in the future just like Wilder and Fury did. AJ is building his way back up under Uncle Derrick, with a big KO against Helenius. We saw some good body work from AJ in the latter stages of fight 2 which troubled Usyk. Who takes the trilogy?
He's been fighting conservatively since Ruiz II. Ruiz didn't just beat him in the first fight, he took his soul. Usyk completely ruined him. The only way he beats Usyk is by knocking him out. We all know Joshua hasn't got the bollocks to fight like that anymore. Usyk beats him in the trilogy.
That’s why I said he’s improved under Uncle Derrick. It was Rob in fight one, and Garcia in fight 2 who made him fight conservatively. Derrick won’t let him do the same, if he goes all out it could be lights out for the man from crimea.
Depends when it happens and whether Usyk has slowed down significantly by the time they fight again. It also depends where Joshua is mentally and physically. Usyk-Joshua 2 was more competitive than Usyk-Joshua (11 month gap), how much that was due to tactical improvements from Joshua or decline from Usyk is not clear. Joshua is 27 months younger and the naturally bigger man, so physically I'd expect the gap to close to some degree in a trilogy. A-side Joshua lost the first fight 8-4 on the cards (consensus 9-3) but the 2nd only 7-5 by SD (consensus 8-4), so if Joshua could lose by a fan consensus of 7-5 next time he'd probably pull off a MD win on the cards.
Hmm that's a tough one....let me think on it. I've also been wondering who would win if Wilder fought Fury a 4th time.
No one seems to be giving AJ a prayer, but if he stops Wilder then he’ll have more confidence and as you said Grandpa Usyk could be in trouble.
I'm also interested in who wins in the fourth (or is it fifth?) Fury vs Chisora fight. I thought Chisora showed some real urgency in his last fight.
How can you be using that as an example to compare to this? Fury/Wilder trilogy is better and we saw Wilder improve a lot in the 3rd fight
Wilder would be something like a 3/1 underdog (25% chance). Fury would be a strong favourite for good reason but you can't count Wilder out of any fight. Power is the last thing to go and Fury needs his athleticism/durability against Wilder, who while significantly older is the more disciplined athlete. Wilder might have the most explosive right hand ever, he has a good track record of putting Fury down and his skillset/experience is greater than ever. He would also probably be as motivated as ever, he's shown a willingness to die in the ring and the only proven way to defeat Wilder is to knock him senseless, which inevitably puts you in the danger zone.
