Yeah it can but it's not easy - lucky he has so many resources behind him. And I'm not even sure he has Malignaggi power tbh.
He is young, inexperienced and whilst he has improved a little bit he needs to go very slow. Like how they are handling him now. No rush.
It just shows how boxing is who you know & not what you know when Campbell can train full time from the age of 19/20 and the likes of Maxi Hughes have to work full time into their 30's before they can make a living from boxing alone.
Sorry not buying that. He was also bang average at amateur level, so sticking around there would not have been any good either. They gave it the old “my style is suited to the pros etc” but that’s just an excuse and no doubt Matthew and the Dad know very well that he’s limited. The only improvement that the lad has made is that he has filled out physically. He has poor punching technic, no particular power, his chin is higher in the air than the Empire State Building and he doesn’t appear to have any ring IQ. That’s the cold and honest truth IMO.
What's he meant to do then... just sit on his arse and sponge off the old man ? He's trying to make a go of it, clearly putting the graft in day in day out in the gym. Yeah just like Conor Benn and Eubank Jr, his surname has given him a leg up... but who in there right mind wouldn't take that sort of deal if it's being offered to you ? In fact you'd have to be a ****ing idiot to turn it down.
Let's not forget Conor Benn was quite bad when he started off and had a shocker against Peynaud. Maybe Campbell will improve. I can't see him getting anywhere near Euro level though.
Conor Benn is still quite bad. From what I remember anyway, he’s not fought in a while cos he got caught cheating.
As said on here regularly, boxing is an attraction, not a sport, so he's got every right to take whatever he can get. Promoters have the right to give him a go and try to make it pay. It's a good story if it works out. Boxing isn't fair but it will always be thus.
