Article in Boxing News this week about a Brit who fought a champ in the 1930s, the champ had fought 27 times in a year. We praise them if they fight 3! Different breed.

I have heard, and read his story, an astonishing fighter, (and coolest collection of nicknames ever owned), but I'd say it's difficult to put fighters such as Wilde into context, as the sport was so different then, and there's a dearth of footage of him. It's a shame, but that's the way it is. But he was a terrific champion indeed, and I hope the *******s that mugged him when an old man met some serious karma.
