I agree with Bashir about the techniques that are being lost. But his views on Holy-Usyk are ridiculous.

Evander was in his 40's when he fought Toney, Byrd & Donald, and had been in many wars. To base a mythical matchup on the opposing boxer's worst performances is asinine. Period.

Holyfield KO'd 14 of his 18 opponents at CW.

    Usyk would've been KO #15.

and at HW, he gets KO'd by Holy.

He was just too great for Usyk.

No doubt, gotta give the man respect - 55 years in the boxing biz, he's earned the right to have his opinions taken seriously.

I think Usyk is awesome and has had a fantastic career. He always comes in shape & ready. I'm not too impressed with most of his opposition throughout the years.

Holy has been in there with so many great fighters, there's just no comparison.

You do realise that Usyk is closing on a total of some 450 fights amateur and pro combined, right?

Hunter, a difficult fight for Usyk? In which universe? Usyk practically KOd him, I don’t know what was wrong with that ref to let Usyk batter an exhausted Hunter unable to defend himself like that at the end of the fight.

Usyk v Holyfield is another one of those fantasy match ups that are very popular on here and so should be treat for what it is,which is simply another fantasy match up !

His ped use comes up in every thread he's mentioned in. How is that a "pass?"

Professional fights are totally different to Amateur fights, Holyfield in 80s was fighting 15 round war vs Qawi where he lost 14 pounds of fluids, had another brutal war in 80s vs Dokes. Not too mention his countless tough fights in 90s vs Foreman, Bowe x2, Mercer, Cooper, Foreman, etc.

I think bringing up losses when Holyfield is over the age of 40 after countless wars is unfair, as I said put Usyk in same position over the age of 40 fighting tough opposition and see how he fares.

You mean some of us have to mention it in order to remind all those who conveniently ignore and give him a free pass for it in hypothetical match up threads and discussions like this? He's not only a super artificially enhanced walking PED factory he's the poster boy for steroids.

Evander is one of few that I always rooted for, and you're right it's truly a shame that he did that. It casts a terrible pall over his career.

I often wonder what would've happened if he did it naturally? How much of that incredible heart was a result of peds? It breaks my heart because he was always a warrior that gave us many memorable matches.

Even though he was a walking PED factory, I always liked him, enjoyed watching him, and respected his warrior spirit. He was great to watch.

I saw an ex world champion/now pundit pick Holyfield to beat Usyk in a hypothetical match up yesterday. The deciding factor for them was that Holyfield ''doesn't get tired.'' Er.. that might have something to do with the EPO he was on.

Another thing is PEDs help you extend your career as they did with him. Usyk is 36 going on 37, an age when many fighters are washed up by and old especially for clean athlete.

It doesn't matter. Usyk is just simply better, slicker, faster and more agile than any southpaw Holyfield ever faced.
