As much as i like CE as a fighter, his cruiserweight stint against Thompson whilst admirable, i would have to go with Usyk on points, Eubank would have his moments but not enough of them.
Eubank only went to Cruiserweight when he was finished. It wasn't his natural weight, so I would pick Usyk by clear yet competitive UD. 116-112 or 117-111.
Eubank was very heavy on his feet carrying all the extra weight and tired fast. It’s not really fair with Usyk having the frame of a heavy and Eubank a middle Both top line talents in their respective weights though
The only 'moment' Eubank would have, is if Usyk was feeling in a particularly charitable mood, he might allow Chris the opportunity to floss the pork fat from between his front teeth at the post-fight banquet.
Eubank fought at Cruiserweight when the limit was still 190 lbs. and Thompson was not the highest caliber of title holder either. Great guy, tough competitor - but He was pretty limited as Johnny Nelson showed. That fight would never happen - if They were around at the same time - just like Eubank was never going to fight Juan Carlos Gomez. If it did happen for some strange reason, then Eubank would look like a journeymen in there and get stopped.
Exactly. Eubank was 186lbs for Thompson 1, suggesting he wasn't over 190lbs in the ring. Usyk was reported as 207lbs on fight night at CW vs Mike Hunter. Usyk clearly established himself as the man at CW, not to mention most people consider him a top 2 ATG of those that have competed in that division. Eubank was never established as the man in any weight division. Usyk was a better 200lbs CW than Eubank was a 160lbs MW. Complete mismatch.
Eubank would get the beating of his life. He shouldn't have been anywhere near cruiser in the first place
Complete mismatch. Eubank was never nearly as good as Usyk even p4p and the old CW Eubank would still be giving up 20 lbs. So Eubank would be past prime giving up 20 lbs against a prime even p4p and prime for prime much better fighter. A better question is CW Eubank against CW McCallum.
In the 2010s, Chris Eubank Sr. would have been a journeyman, or at best a gatekeeper, in the Cruiserweight competition. Usyk wins by knockout.
