Shouldn't this be an easy fight for Fury?

He's lazy to train hard... he's lazy but when he cheers up he's going to send him into retirement

You need to be fit to go 12 rounds with Usyk...

Fury won't knock him out, so he'll have to be fit and he very rarely is.

Even at the top of his game this is probably a 50/50 for Fury.

I just don't think Fury is hungry enough to train as hard as he'd need to... So it'll probably never happen.

    Hopefully I'm wrong.

Because Usyk is like the Frankenstein combination of Cunningham and Wallin, Fury's two toughest fights ever - only ten times the fighter those two put together. He is quite literally the worst possible stylistic matchup for Fury.

Imagine what Usyk would do to him if this is what Fury felt about Cunningham: "The reason being he was very slippery, I couldn’t pin him down. He was light on his feet, weighing 208lbs, he was a cruiserweight champion and he stepped up into heavyweights. He was a slick, talented boxer and I tried to walk him down, use my size and power, but he was just outboxing me. What I’m good at – boxing, moving, slipping and sliding – I couldn’t do against Steve Cunningham because he was quicker than me. It was like he was a better boxer all round than me, and he’d knocked me over even though he was a light puncher. (...) I’m not gonna make any excuses, Steve Cunningham was a better boxer than me.”

And that was Cunningham who is levels and levels below Usyk, against a literally decade younger, fitter, quicker, 30 lbs lighter, more mobile and agile version of Fury. And add to that the fact that Usyk is a southpaw and is busier, more skilled, hits harder, and moves faster than Cunningham. Of course Fury is scared s***less at the thought of facing Usyk.

I'm afraid it's just straight cowardice and there's no other word for it

Funny because he didn't have a problem facing ''foreigners'' Tom Schwarz, Wallin, Pianeta, Sefari, Wlad, and Hammer in six of his previous seven fights prior to making that statement.

    2020

'However, early in 2020 he gave an interview and insisted the 34-year-old was not a target for him.

Fury told iFL TV: “No. Usyk ain’t on the list, he’s a no-name, no-one’s interested and it doesn’t make any money.

“So what would I wanna fight him for?

“He’s a small cruiserweight, foreigner, don’t speak good English, and nobody’s really interested anyway, he’s not setting anything alight.

“I want the big fights people are interested in and that ain’t one of them.”

He even said he had no interest in facing him even if he beat AJ and won all his belts

    But then he said this

'In the aftermath of these fights, AJ activated his contractual clause to force a rematch with Usyk.

Fury told iFL TV: “I want him to step aside so I can absolutely batter Oleksandr Usyk.

“If he does, he does. And if he doesn’t, he doesn’t. But get the f*** on with it

“Either take your money and f*** off or fight the man. One or the other.”

Don't forget this is a man who openly admits his toughest fight was against a light-hitting chinny CW who isn't fit to lace Usyk's boots

“Believe it or not, this is gonna sound strange – Cunningham was the hardest fight I ever did have in my whole career, amateur or professional.

“The reason being he was very slippery.

“The way I explain Cunningham – it was like a Conger Eel all full of oil in front of me.

    “I couldn’t pin him down.

“He was light on his feet, he was weighing 208lbs or something.

“He was a three-time cruiserweight champion and then he stepped up into the heavyweights.

“He was a slick, talented boxer and I tried to walk him down using my size and power, but he was just outboxing me.

“What I’m good at – boxing, moving, slipping and sliding – I couldn’t do against Steve Cunningham because he was quicker than me.

“It was like he was a better boxer all round than me.

“I couldn’t do nothing with him, and he knocked me over even though he was a light puncher supposedly.

“I walked right onto it, it came from the back of the hall, big overhand right, right on the chin.

“I thought: ‘This is it, US debut I’ve been knocked out. Tyson Fury, get up and kick his ass.’

“So I got up, I just went straight forward at him, no more boxing now.

“You might be ahead on points, but sooner or later I’m gonna get you. And I did, in round seven I felt him going weak because I was pushing him back.

“After he got tired I hit him with a heavy body shot in round seven and he didn’t recover and then I pushed his head back and knocked him clean out with a right hand.

“That was the only time he was ever knocked out in his career, even to today.

“I’m not gonna make any excuses, Steve Cunningham was a better boxer than me.”

    From Aug, 2022

'And now Warren, who promotes Fury in the UK alongside Bob Arum of Top Rank, who looks after his Stateside affairs, has spoken about the negotiations.

“The terms of the deal are really simple, it will be a 50/50 split, but it’s where we can generate the most income to make it work.

It’s an easier fight to make instead of Joshua because there are no rival promoters involved. Usyk’s people are free agents and that’s not a problem.”

He is obviously afraid of losing. I favor Fury to win if it does happen but like others have already said Fury knows he will have to train hard and be laser focused to win like he was for Klitchko and Wilder 2. For Wilder 3, Whyte and Chisora he just knew he was levels above those guys and was able to beat them at about 70% just based on experience and natural ability. Usyk is the only man left he really needs to be at 100% for.

at his core, he's a partier. he feels like he's done the hard work and now it's time to lay back and suck up the gravy. also, he's aware that the sum of his attributes have been overrated. maybe a great deal. why risk it?

Even if he train as hard as every, he can never have the output and keep on the pace of Usyk.
As it was shown in Dubois fight. Usyk slowly going through the gears, and his opponents doesn't have answer after he start going up and up, and up, and he always have another level.
While Fury have a good cardio, he always needs to tied/hold/clinch to safe his breath. And he won't be able to do that against Usyk.
It's his only hope to be as dirty as possible, and he knows it. But with the right ref, this won't be allowed.

He is most probably trying to age Usyk out, as Usyk style is very prone to age, unlike Fury's one.

Right hand, left hook to the body, keep your guard up, and unlike AJ and DuBois, Fury knows how to use his size and reach advantages.

For all of his flaws, AJ did better in the second fight against Usyk, just by attacking his body more than the first time.

Fury himself doesnt believe it. He is scared shitless of Usyk. Like others said due to the Cunningham fight and cause Fury knows boxing.
His insecure ego cant handle getting schooled and humiliated and not be praised as this h2h beast.

Fury isn’t scared. But he doesn’t respect Usyk.
